I think your review is spot on!!! I am glad i am not the only one who thinks ALP is just an average boring series.
Thanks! I don't think its totally garbage though as I liked the production & visuals and felt some actors did a pretty good job but yes, I did not like the story and the MLs got on my nerve during the entirety of the show.
OMG episodes 19-26 really raised up the temperature! What beautiful episodes and script editing by the YAMG team. I loved how they incorporated the chapters and the extras from the novel together to make seamless episodes. YT's expressions in these episodes show his feelings nicely and QJJ is such a queen. I feel she should have kept YT dangling for an answer longer though. She is so sweet to him. So many squeal-worthy moments in eps 22-26. Desert scenes are just splendid! Can't wait for the next marathon on Monday!!
I agree with most of this, yes. People seem to think if you have issues with ALP it's to insult the leads on their…
I was okay with Untamed but I realized that I have a very short fuse when it comes to these epic romances. The only wuxia that I have loved are Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Hero (both films) so clearly I have very low attention span and am a very hard person to please when it comes to this genre. The timeline in ALP was really disconcerting as there was no indication when 100 years have passed as opposed to 1000 years or even 10,000 years. All the periods were given as much/as less importance as the other so it's very difficult to understand when someone says "I stayed with you for 10,000> years" when its just one or two episodes for us/the viewer. I liked the first few episodes of ALP as well and found the visuals pretty pleasing. While the ALP sets were grand, I can understand why there wasn't much interaction between the set and the characters. This was probably because the action scenes were not the main focus of the overall storyline. TBH I started this show because the FL is way better than Jin Mi from Ashes. That chick got on my nerves with her stupidity. So Ashes & Ten Miles are still on my hold list. But at least I was able to struggle through ALP so it can't have been a total lost cause!
Thank you for this review. Tried to watch this drama since it had so many 10 reviews but dropped it. I could not…
Yup. I watched it as I haven't watched epic romantic stories but had a hard time slogging through this. I have dropped many as well. I think its too much exposure to xanxia/wuxia these days that has made me even more wary of picking up a new show in this genre now!
This was an interesting show on Netflix. Sadly I watched a couple of episodes and forgot about it altogether. Your review made me realize I need to put it in my PTW here to remind me! :)
FYI losing one's senses does not make you a ditzy person but this is exactly what the FL is for the first half of this drama until she regains them. If you are okay with a foolish and immature FL then this is the show for you to watch. She does improve after she regains her senses but you need to have immense patience to be able to reach that episode to see any improvement in her behaviour. If you get frustrated with the ridiculous misunderstandings which could have been solved with a simple dialogue then best of luck watching this!
May i know which part of decision u didn't agree with for BJ?
There is a lot lost in translation starting from Bo Xuan's actions and reasonings behind it, Qing Mu's actions and finally Bai Jue's actions after reappearing. To me BJ was so humanized that he no longer felt like a God/Deity let alone a "True God". I feel they (drama) did not spend enough time explaining the reasoning behind BJ actions which led to a lot of misunderstandings. I also found quite a few scenes were added to create unnecessary drama. Please don't get worked up with my opinion but that's how I felt.
I agree with most points in this review and am glad someone mentioned this on the review board because otherwise I feel the viewer perception is going to be skewed with the amount of 10 ratings that this drama has received on MDL. For me this drama has been a test of patience as I continue waiting for the retribution and closure of many unresolved arcs. Not sure about the novel but I do feel that the scriptwriters took too much liberty with altering the story thereby diluting the character of Bai Jue. I think he has made too many dumb decisions to justify his "True God" status. The lack of focus on supporting characters like Tian Qi, Gu Jun, Yue Mi left me pretty dissatisfied as well. The only saving grace for me beside the CGI/VFX was how much negative emotion I had invested in Wu Huan. And if one is viewing the drama only to watch the villain be wicked then you can imagine how high I am going to be rating this drama! :)
So basically I waited from episode 18 to 45 to see our villains get humiliated.....I'm quickly losing my patience with the dearth of retribution awarded in this drama. Is it just me? I am quite unhappy with the drama script for altering some of Bai Jue's decisions as well. Drama Bai Jue has lost my respect. Have to wait for final subbed episodes before I make a decision on this drama's rating. :/
I will pray hard that Cheng Xiao has improved her acting since her character sounds complicated with the revenge…
Completely agree with you. In FIYS I found she had four standard expressions: crying, angry, smiling and dead. She is a beautiful girl and an amazing gymnast but hope she has improved here.
I am non-stop cringing at the acting from the start of this show. Can't get past the first episode. Is there an episode when these feelings will vanish or am I gonna have to drop this show ?!
