This is giving me 'The Millionaire Detective - Balance Unlimited' vibes. Its a Japanese anime about; you guessed correctly, a millionaire detective who throws money around (you could call it flexing) as his preferred investigative method for solving crimes. I hope they stick to comedy throughout the series and don't try to turn in the waterworks after episode 12 as they go around searching for the culprit behind his mother's death.
I understood it as "as the world is set to push me to my demise, i will not fight it", but I might be wrong. (They…
Yes, I completely agree. Its tough for translators to chug out English subtitles with the same brevity as the original dialogue. But some shows lose a lot of impact after translation.

Makes sense. I wish someone would rephrase that. There are so many wonderful and powerful lines in this drama but sadly none of it translates as well in English.
The empress dowager and emperor perfectly represent the 'raising a tiger is a threat or asset' dilemma.
The emperor being self assured wanted to use the tiger without stripping it off its hide while the dowager is too fearful of the tiger she raised and declawed it instead. Clearly confirms why the dowager should have been stopped from interfering in matters of the state/country. She is too nearsighted while the emperor is too benevolent.
What will happen if Northern Liang or any other neighboring country starts a war? They've declawed their mightiest general so will the emperor then send his sons to fight and die in battle leaving the country ruler-less?
What I noticed, there are a bunch of Chinese dramas that feature older characters, with no major plotlines for…
Exactly, its scary how conditioned the media is in under-representing old folks. We see such diverse people in real life but it rarely translates to screen. Chinese dramas with older people hmmm... there is very high possibility that a lot of weekend dramas or soap operas are skipped or not translated due to less publicity and low viewership numbers. Thanks for reading my article!
Damn, you are so right on the point. I have bumped into this drama just yesterday, finding out, I have probably…
I have the unfortunate habit of remembering things I dislike quite clearly. I still remember this drama and my pain while watching it very vividly. I am glad my review resonated with you. Lucky you that forgets things that are best forgotten! Have a good day! ^^
What an interesting article. Thank you! Older people have all sorts of personalities and traits just like younger…
Yes, it's good when shows resonate with the reality of times to create a set of characters of all ages and from all walks of life and not just unattainable heroes. Thanks for reading my article! ^^
Nice article. I'd appreciate one of these about cheating and the differences between how cheating men and women…
Interesting, this topic is surely to raise some hackles but will definitely look at cultural stereotypes wrt sex. I think this is something that has cropped up multiple times on message boards under shows where either of the couple cheats.
This is a very interesting article introducing us to dramas centered on older characters and their experience.…
Thank you! Yes, its something that falls under the radar because as viewers we get conditioned to watch in a particular format but this only holds true if you watch shows from only one country or region. If like me you watch multi-cultural dramas, you might have noticed how certain characterisations or depictions differ between let's say a British thriller vs a Chinese or Korean thriller. Oh, haven't seen that one. Is it any good?
Also without familial insecurity, bad governance and dirty politics there would be no need for any dynasty to end.
