For all those saying in the comments that the King must know that the player is a woman because apparently they can’t comprehend love that could transcend genders please watch the link below. Jo Junk Suk said as at the time of the hugging and episode 7 the King still thinks she is a man.

Also the male leading falling in love with the female lead before discovering her gender is not a new plot. It has been done before in Sungkywon Scandal and The King’s Affection.

The male leads usually can’t believe they love a man but they later admit it as the love is too intense to be denied.

If people have an issue with this they should stop watching and move on to another drama.

Why must it be obvious to him that she is a woman?.

Delicate, svelte men with feminine beauty as well as androgynous people exist in South Korea.

So you think it’s a problem if it is portrayed that the Ml loves the female lead whatever her gender? I don’t see any issue with it. I think it portrays the intensity of the love. I loved that about the King’s affection.

My thoughts;

* The king does not know she is a woman. I don’t get why people are angry because the feel she obviously looks like a woman. What of Clark Kent who obviously looks like Superman?

*The letter the king received in the forest that referred to searching for something lost is probably a letter from Mongwoos father and the King is searching for the daughter of his teacher not knowing she is beside him.

*The «i like you » at the end is obviously friendship like that the King meant not romantic like though he is obviously lying to himself as he doesn’t seem to realize how much this male consumes his every
thought.

From the king’s flashback it seems he knows Mongwoo was the one that instigated the Grand Prince asking to accompany him. The King is so wise and smart and sharp. He knows all the tricks Mongwoo is trying to pull and yet indulges her. If she stabs him he will probably feel it is a just punishment for how he treated her.

*I hate the 2ml and his suffering eyes. Take a seat and don’t interfere in their love. 😂

*The king is so smitten and also filled with guilt. He can’t bear to see her suffer a second time. He lost her once and he won’t lose her again.

*Standing in the rain Mongwoo realizes she still loves the king. I believe in episode 8 she will become jealous of the Kings concubine and realize that the lover never went away.

*It is revealed that the king goes mad when it rains. Obviously these past years the rain reminds him of Mongwoo whom he believes to be dead. This takes us back to when the king told Mongwoo that the death of a friend who trusts you can drive one mad.

So it means the the thought of Mongwoo dead has affected him so much. He loves her and doesn’t even know it. 💘

I love all the characters most especially the male lead.

What i can decipher from ep7 is that Mongwoo would be put in a situation where she would have to fight someone in a duel. Her one eyed friend will train her before the fight. But as she is not a professional fighter the King would have to step in and save his man/woman😂 I can’t wait. This drama has one of my favorite themes girl dressed as boy and Ml falling in love with Fl while thinking she is a boy. There’s just something about the deception and pretense that is romantic.

I saw a teaser where she kissed him. Will she kiss him while he still thinks she is a man? Or has he discovered her gender by then? Can’t wait. I wish they release all episodes at once.

Episode 5 ending when he was confronting her.

Duh! Her falling in love is the main point of the whole drama. And the king is not that bad.

I love the Ml as well. He is so charismatic and intense. Gosh!! As for the FL she is not careful enough. You are playing the role of a man. Why will you allow another man to hug in the palace where all eyes are watching?! Smh!!

I pity the second ml. He is doomed to be disappointed again. I hope the FL does not string him along. He needs to know he stands no chance. I hate when Fl toys with the 2ml feelings however unintended.

Mong woo is not as scared of the King as she thinks she is unless she would not have gone to the palace and dared to incur his wrath by being insolent. Her head is telling her something while her heart is telling her something else.

Her eyes when she looks at the king does not even show hatred. She looks heartbroken 😔

I like the subtle nuances in this drama. The king says so much without saying anything. He acts like he is angry with him but you can tell especially from em 5 ending that he is concerned the he came back into a dangerous palace.

I love the drama. I hope they do like The Kings affection and leave the gender reveal closer to the end. I want to see the Kings confusion when he realizes he is falling in love with a man.

I don’t see him as mean. He is guarded because he is surrounded by enemies and so called allies who want to control him. Even his mum wants to control him.

Exactly what i thought when he said this. I believe it’s also why he drank and womanized for three years. He was heartbroken.

He is not a villain. So far he has been doing what he has to do survive. 3years later i didn't see any citizen complaining about hardship etc. only that he is a womaniser.
