For all we know, they might be making things up as they go along so they made this quickie episode to buy some…
On a Patreon that I subscribe to, someone made the point that Tae's hair was a different color in this episode and that he looked older, and the other characters didn't appear at all except in flashback.
I don't know what that tells us, exactly, but it's an interesting observation to be sure!
Man this show is so terrible, but I keep coming back. It just has that particular charm. Episode 9 was the most…
I think the new guy is someone sent by Amethyst to help Tae get over Nite, since Amethyst is the god of healing. But I don't think what they did together is a way to heal lol.
Gene is going through the process of coming out. People go through that in different ways depending on their upbringing.…
The person I did it to ended up as my first boyfriend. I don't need you to tell me if it was 'defensible'. I'd been raised a born-again Christian so I had issues to deal with.
So, with all due respects, I think you *do* judge the process. And I'm still glad you weren't around to snark at me as I went through mine.
Great episode ! It has everything : care, confused feelings, hurt, comedy...Some scenes are really beautiful and…
I agree! This episode put the series at another level.
It seems clear that more care was taken for the screenwriting than I've given it credit for. Gene's reaction to Nubsib's attention is realistic given the 'script' he has written for his own life. He is going to go through lots of confusion, anger, and despair before finally being able to accept the love of another man.
They made a nice adjustment on the sound effects, putting them at a much lower volume. I think the impact they have is actually better that way. I hope other series take note.
I'm writing my impressions as I watch the episode...They're getting in some got in so good little critiques, especially…

I'm glad I didn't have people like you judging me when I was in college.
Loved it, although after all the buildup I thought the explanation for the ML’s memory loss was pretty weak. I was expecting a clever twist of some sort.
I can’t decide which is less plausible: an unknown new student attending classes in an exclusive private school complete with food and housing provided, without ever having to register or pay tuition and with no one questioning his presence ... or a unicorn. :)
True... but this trope isn't limited to BL. There's an entire "stepsiblings" subgenre in MF romance too (though…
I think you're right -- and, as we can clearly see here in this discussion, it's one of those things that just doesn't travel well between Eastern and Western cultures.
One thing I've liked about getting into Asian drama is seeing how important family is. I wonder if the prevalence of the step-sibling trope is related to that, like maybe in a subconscious way a 'step' relationship with someone serves to validate that they are worth loving as though they are family. Or something like that lol.
I guess he left school to be a trainee in Beijing, without saying goodbye to her. What do you think? :0)
There's that scene in the opening credits where he walks away from her looking angry, so I've been assuming that they have a fight of some kind. Your theory seems more likely though.
Tbh, the toxic people around her frustrate me more--her parents, bestfriend and the enemy camouflaging as a friend.
The evil friend/roommate in Cdramas never seems to face any kind of justice, which has made me wonder if the censors in Mainland China disapprove of that kind of negative outcome.
I don't know what that tells us, exactly, but it's an interesting observation to be sure!

After this week I'm all in!

They did great, of course.
