This episode was so cathartic, with Oat proving himself to be one of the best actors in all of Thai drama, let alone BL.
What thrill to see Jun finally give Sorn what he deserves, and even better is that the writers didn't contain the hurt and rage to just this one episode. Any other series would have had the two of them reconcile before the final credits.
I really enjoyed it. But I don't know if it's only me but something feels off with the story telling. It seemed…
There's a lot of backstory missing. Like, we don't know why Ji Won retired from professional gymnastics. Since it's mentioned so much I suspect there's going to be something to that.
I sure hope they didn't know each other in the past. It's such a tired trope. Plus, they already set it up that Jeong's buddy went to elementary school with Ji Won. They should stop there lol.
On the other hand, Asian dramas seem to love that "long-forgotten childhood connection" stuff, so you might have picked up on something.
I'm blown away. Never heard of this series, and discovered it only because it showed up on iQIYI when I was browsing the site.
The two leads are perfectly cast. I'm especially impressed by Yeom Min Hyeok. He captures Ji Won's shyness so well. (The remaining question is whether he's got a gymnast's body. I'm inclined to think not, since they've got him constantly wearing baggy sweatshirts.) π
And I do wonder how someone as shy as Ji Won could have been so successful an international-level gymnast. Not impossible, just hard to imagine.
All the pieces are in place for a terrific "opposites attract" story.
That was a chore to get through. I really like Poom, but his character is one-note and tiresome - his comic abilities…
The lack of chemistry is a big problem. I like Poom too, and I'll stay with this because of him, but for anyone saying "the chemistry is chemistrying" (one of the cringiest phrases in the English language) I wonder if they're watching the same series. To me there's a big-brother/little-brother dynamic at best.
It's strange that the series went to the trouble of building up Jom as a paradigm of honor then had him pull that stunt on Yo. Was that really all they could come up with to show that Jom wanted Yo to stay? So amateurish and lazy.
For once the little sound effects actually add to the scenes, especially when Sorn and Jun are bantering.
And while Boat seems to get all the attention I think Oat is fantastic. I can't imagine anyone else playing Jun. The way he pulls off that "banana" scene is comedy gold.
He said Heesu could have prepared him for the confession. And I'm like what? And heesu apologised? Sorry, for…
Chan Young guilt-tripping Heesu over Chan Young's own reaction to that conversation was the absolute lowest moment for the most heinous character. His selfishness knew no bounds. Heesu should have told him to go f himself.
I think most of the people here are not really used to hearing actual criticism instead of mindless bashing, so…
Just to let you know, the scene with Heesu asleep on Seungwon's shoulder as they ride the bus is in Ep05, around the 25:00 mark. There's even a nice romantic OST softly playing on the soundtrack. π₯°
I honestly don't understand people who gets THAT bothered by other people's opinions. Are you like 10? This is…
Ah, but if they do it here it lets them write lengthy, poetic missives that subtly deride anyone who's been disappointed by the lack of screen time for the main couple. Because, don't you see? Anyone who wants more development of the romance for the title character just doesn't understand that real romance will sometimes lurk just beneath the surface, softly asleep under the winter snows until the robins of spring sing in the treetops and love can awaken and yawn and stretch its arms to the sky.
His ragged appearance was sprung on us almost as a sight gag. It certainly got a chuckle out of me!

And to think that only a week ago I didn't know it existed!
I'm glad they didn't know each other before!

Poom without a shirt, though? ... "more, please!"

Any bets on whether CY will win the tennis tournament or JY will pass the audition? The series will save those time-killers for Episode 10, though.
Given the track record here I predict no confession until Episode 10, or at best until the very last scene of Episode 9.
When this thing started I never imagined it would keep the miscommunication going for so long -- for what is essentially the whole series.
Oh, well. Maybe the consolation prize will be getting to see Chan Yeong and Ji Yu get engaged and married. π π π
