I feel bad for the actors - what a mess. First, they have to stop with the planking in the love scenes. They're…
You hit all the high notes. Implausibility after implausibility. And what the hell *is* the deal with Kim and his mother? I don't remember any prior history in the earlier episodes. It seems so random and, like you say, it reflects so poorly on the character.
(Oh, and he lives at home but she didn't know he was starting a new job--his very first job, after what his friends said was a long search???)
The shrewish "head AE" (or whatever it is) was a tired stereotype -- envious of the college kid with all the achievements, so using her authority to put him through hell.
Tim and Mai embracing on the couch took me back to TT2, when Fiat went to Leo to apologize and ended up squeezing onto the couch next to him without any fanfare, like it was something they shared every day. The moment between Tim and Mai was similarly authentic. The actors seem very comfortable with each other and look great together.
For me the big event was Bear and Mama Bear doing more than sniff-kiss, and second to that was the blessing that Mek and Kim's makeout session at the end wasn't a dream sequence. When the camera got all gauzy I thought for sure that was what we were in for. And Kim readily confessed that he had never stopped loving him. That was refreshing. In another series it would have been another denial and the last episode would be about Mek proving him wrong.
I don't know what it is, but Bew/Park is coming on strong for me in these last episodes. What a hottie! I didn't appreciate him as much as before. He's incredibly handsome.
Well, the last Ranz Gonzales series was a big tease. It had the same two leads as this one and the BL content was non-existent. If this one is really only one episode then I guess I can see if matters have improved.
During the opening credits they show a calendar that was on August 2022, but maybe that's related to the time…
Looking at the posters and miscellany in Cake's bedroom, absolutely nothing looked contemporary. And the lack of cell phones was blatant too. So I think you're right that this part of the series is set in the early 2000's.
So corny, but it will be fun. I quickly dispensed with any thought that this would be scary or suspenseful. Ironically, the music doesn't help. In the next episode I won't be surprised if there's a scene where somebody's buttering toast and the synths start pounding away.
And, sorry, but how can anyone think those acts of attempted murder are due to a curse, or that the curse is tied to having to always follow the rules? Please.
But I do love the three girly protesters. Who knew that Pak could turn it on like that!
The sound production is a major problem. It seemed the most hideous in the classroom, which was a very "live" acoustic due to the minimal furnishings on the set. In terms of that set design, most of the interior shots had a similar lack of "real feel" to them. So, I think the budget for this wasn't all that.
What saves it is the cast. It's almost like a flex by GMMTV, putting all these talented boys in one series.
I appreciated seeing First wrapped only in a towel, although it looks like he stopped working out after they finished filming "Not Me". Nonetheless, he can go all "prefect" on me any time he wants, thank you. 😏
Eiw said "Cake" more times than that Gameboys character who says "Baby" every thirty seconds.
Real people don't talk like that, using somebody's name over and over in conversation. I think it's made a little worse by the Thai way of using a person's name instead of a pronoun when you're speaking to someone who's an intimate friend or a lover. Like on the bus when Cake was talking to Eiw and the subs said "Do you wanna join basketball with me," what I heard Cake actually say was something like "Does Eiw wanna join basketball with Cake". (That entire conversation is a good example of the proper name/pronoun thing, actually.)
Anyway, I've had my fill of "Cake" (the name, not the character!) and it's just the first episode. I hope Earth is allowed to settle into a more restrained performance because that 40 minutes felt a lot longer to me.
I think Benz is perfect as Fee. I couldn't stand him in that "Coffee" series--he was the sole reason I dropped it. But I like him a lot here.
Kim looked fabulous seated on that chair by the ocean. Whoever did the styling for that location shoot knew what's up.
It was funny, though, that in the intervening bedroom scene with Kamol, Kim's hair got dark again ... then was back to lightened in the following scene.
I'm starting to wonder if the endgame here is that Kamol and Kim move in with De, Itt, and Salmon after Kamol retires from the business.
It's like they've completely dispatched with the whole BDSM theme. That "unforgotten night" was forgotten pretty fast.
They're holding out on us when it comes to Kom and Baiboon. It was cute that Baiboon got jealous, wondering about Cherry. Kim seems to have forgotten that she kidnapped him at that party and nearly got him killed. Explaining to Baiboon who she is, all he said she was that she was Kamol's acquaintance.
I’ve been thinking about this as well and came to the conclusion that Vee must have felt some kind of way about…
Yes, it is in the Director's Cut.
And it points out one of the many ways that the original versions of those episodes screwed with the plot and character development. The fact that Vee jumped in like that and then scolded Mark is very important to how we view him. We also see how Mark's angry reaction leaves a rather hurt look on Vee's face.
I'll be watching and thinking it's doing okay, not great but not the worst either, and then they get to a scene where somebody tries to look like they're playing a musical instrument and I just about die from the cringe.

iQIYI has this listed in their "Pride" collection along with a bunch of BLs.
They should visit this page and get the real scoop.
Saints be praised!

As friends, Itt and Kim would address each other as "Ai", as in "Ai Kim", which roughly translates as "Brother Kim".
In Thai culture you refer to an older male who is unrelated as "Uncle". Salmon would address Kim as his uncle because Kim is much older.
Referring to a male as Uncle can be an insult if the older person isn't *that* much older.

There's no way he ends up with Rain, so I hope he finds somebody to appreciate that stunning body. I can make myself available!
