Thanks again. that was indeed a very interesting fannish introduction to Neo Hou - I like that sort !

You should also post it in Discussions on Love In The Clouds page, so the visitors get to know more than what's on MDL page, if it's not already done ! perhaps with a GIF excerpt to whet appetite?

(making Gifs are admittedly a bit time consuming. I will try to make some for the wedding I mentioned above in the since last you saw them edited posts. Later : am a bit tired right now so will nap before doing other things ;) )

I was also late to the party... Finished it yesterday, loved it 10/10 I agree: CZY is one of the actors who really…
Thanks! Yes, downloaded to my songs collection ;)

I edited my first message about LYN and Tao, because there was a mixup about venues... Even Marcus got it wrong if I remember well. So no, the extravaganza was not in Hainan but in the northern outskirts of Beijing, Miyun district, at a European-style castle with vast park, which I went to, in the past for a wine appreciation, although I did not get to see all the interior then ! It was Chateau Changyu, which you can know more about if you visit this page : https://r.visitbeijing.com.cn/attraction/75 It is near the Miyun reservoir, which on one side features a part of "wild" sunken Great Wall.

Since posting, I came across some hints that Tao and Yiyang may have had a baby in the summer. They did not confirm it on social media, so perhaps it's true, perhaps not. It does take nine months to make one, and they were out of sight for a long while last year, so... perhaps. Anyway, just as for their relationship, I suppose Tao will stay discreet as long as he can despite his super high profile as billionaire.

He certainly could afford the princely wedding extravaganza, made it so that it answered his promise to let fans "participate" (through the live stream which now already has 1h posted online on YouTube with multisubs for the overseas fans; another fan promised to also post...), and some shorts featuring his close friend, like Jiang Chao, Medina Mehmet and those two's child, add interest to that wedding. Tao's friends circle includes Liu Yuning as top "brother" before any Exo member, that's interesting too although the couple did not sever all ties and memories of their Korean trainee past, since one friend of Yiyang, Ningning, was at the party. Perhaps Luhan or Zhang Yixing could not attend for other engagement.

Do you have a link for that song? I listened to Neo singing other ones but don't remember this one.

Aah, I was more looking/listening to Huang Zitao and Liu Yuning's recent live streams ;) Belatedly, since I was tied up with other stuff, so did not check the announcements in advance, although I had noticed one in alerts, fleetingly, last week - besides, like Ning Ge quipped in his live stream, I thought Tao had already had a private wedding ; he showed his marriage certificate on December 2, 2024 already. But it's true he had promised to "invite his fans to the wedding" long before. So, it finally happened through the live stream from BEIJING (not Sanya as some reporters said) on October 16, a little "out-of-the way" from "downtown Beijing" where LYN now resides lol. Yes well, LYN had no time to fly again to Hainan on that day, with his busy schedule, but he did go to attend, even though he reported an anecdote of almost being turned away until "face recognition" clicked! -- I still have to add that data and appropriate pix /GIF to the ongoing Profile I have for Tao, on MDL. Will do so in the next couple of days, for the record. Happy for them all that they had a good time!

Next I'll expect interesting news someday, like those of William Chan and He Sui's baby announced on Oct.18 (dob of baby not disclosed, same as for marriage registration said to have been earlier in 2025, probably in the months January to March). No wonder William, at 40, played in such a believable way the mature family man, in "Love's Ambition". He had some anticipated and actual experience there already, besides being as wealthy as the character he was playing with Zhao Lusi!
Anyway, lucky for the two couples who did find their soulmates in time to expect married and parental bliss at their own pace.

PS. I was amused to see you added lists for vertical drama actors/actresses on your profile page! So you too fell down in that rabbit hole! (smiling) I have also had fun with quite a few of the sometimes thrilling, sometimes funnily over-the-top vertical propositions posted on YouTube, and with the daily news sent to me of new faces and new dramas posted on the Global Granary database over the past year ;) It's an interesting new trend in c-entertainment which has even awoken attention in some foreign media newspapers!

Title Fated Hearts
Episode 27..this is so intense and now I can't sleep. Fated Hearts has me hooked and on the edge of my seat. Fight…
I was also late to the party... Finished it yesterday, loved it 10/10 I agree: CZY is one of the actors who really can play with his eyes ; he is always very expressive, both with face and body movements, so one of those it is easiest to get engaged in the acting of. Li Qin and Chen Zheyuan were a winning team of course, from inception.

Qin Tianyu is an actor I also noticed more here, than in the other dramas which I watched and in which he featured mostly in support role ; he will again be in support role in upcoming "Fight To Love" rebirth costume drama starring Victoria Song and Ding Yuxi, scheduled for Oct.30 (am in two minds about watching it, though).

Meanwhile, I started on "Love in the clouds" but since I am not familiar with many in cast, I found it more complicated to get into that one; also peeked at "Yummy Yummy Yummy" which looked more easy to get into and quite entertainingly comedic.

Then, there's "Blood River" which starts today, with an intro full of warriors with extra large brimmed hats which remind me of an AJTL iconic scene (+other wuxia dramas featuring this type of hats)--and Liu Yuning who also wore such in a number of costume dramas like AJTL, Eternal Brotherhood... LYN sung an ost song for this new one, although I could only listen to a snippet of it as it still was not released early last week... Gong Jun stars in the male-centric drama about an assassin's organization; I don't expect much romance which might be welcome for a change, although there are three ladies listed in main cast of six actors which also include Chang Huasen, who I remember from AJTL and "Moonlight Mystique" (he also had a short transient role in Our Days modern drama). I am somewhat ambivalent about Gong Jun, liked him best recently in "Rising With The Wind", since "Word of Honor" from the aftermath of which he carries some perhaps undeserved noxious baggage. Will try to watch that assassins drama if I have time and am in the mood for it, despite some extraneous difficulties will perhaps have me postpone it.

All the best to you and all who continue enjoying c-dramas.

Young well educated but suppressed Lou Yuxi, aspiring star baker and daughter of a despicable family, gets sold to a lecher to settle company debts. She flees, falls drugged and unawares into the arms of her high school admirer Mr Gu ("prince of Jiancheng"), gets pregnant, married, with doting husband and grandfather, helped by a faithful female friend, but doubted by mother in law and beset by jealous green tea...
Actually, there are a lot of funny moments, and the FL is quite pretty.

From dialogue:
"What a good kid!" - "Laopo! I know you are very ambitious. But you have to know, your husband is there for everything. Why don't you take a break first? Let's practice again, okay?" ;)

Very good interview. I like Wan Peng since watching the " My Girlfriend is an alien" funny dramas, but had not gone as far as looking deeper into her profile. This interview does tempt me to do so. She looks quite grounded and professional, and I like her spontaneity both here and in the dramas : she is an artist who I will be pleased to sample other work from when I have time.

The plot is an adaptation of Zhang Yue Ran's web novel, which was also used to film a drama centered on family…
The novel was not used to film a drama but a movie, previously.
The name of the actress is not Zhao Luzi.

Reading that uncut brick of a paragraph criticism shows that writer is heavily influenced by the cyberbullying unkind rumors and is siding with the haters, putting the weight of health trouble directly on the shoulders of the sufferer. Where did the vitamin B12 suddenly pop up as an exhibit ? Is writer privy to doctors assessment, how can a medical staff come out to criticize a patient?

There are no totally novel plots since ancient legends. It is very lame to use lack of novelty as a prime argument to criticize. Predictability? Well, since this is a novel and the commentator acknowledged it, one would assume the story was easy enough to predict since there are summaries and synopsis...

It is funny how some critics on the one hand don't find it contradictory to criticize dramas for poor investment and on the other hand shoot dramas down for high investment and care for polished images and cinematography. (Even then, there were some glitches, but i'm not dwelling on these, although a couple, unrelated to each other, have really become hurtful for this particular drama as a business venture in which both the agency, and the actress herself put in money investment). It is also strange to brandish this as a reason to criticize when it has been public news that this drama was almost prevented from airing, deprived of proper and usual advertisements. But shot to first place immediately for the quality of first episodes, and the excellent cast.

It is not the role of cast to "help other women suffering from bullying" : who would wish them to just up and cancel their career and stand on a sandbox to address crowds like lunatics on a street corner. They can convey their feelings sometimes, but are also bound by scripts which they can't totally ignore, and which should not be confused with real life, as much as some want dramas to be "close to reality"; IT IS ART, not "fooling" audiences: such insulting words are really showing a contempt of artists that makes one wonder what fandom and leveling abuse at others is really at the core of the paragraph that can't even follow standard writing practice?

The added value of "moral weight" is funny. It is ALWAYS a consideration in Chinese dramas to the point that some, not always untruthfully, are criticized for being propaganda... (Some are explicitly and unashamedly so, and very patriotic. Love's Ambition does conform to a set of promoted moral ideas although not always heavy handed slapped onto plot: the value of work and family, the promotion of better appreciation of women's place despite a still prejudiced society, the value of children even if "illegitimate"... these are ongoing debates also in recent forums in Beijing. From a very patriarchal system only a few decades back, the official moral compass has shifted with aspiration towards equality. Such as in this drama, which makes audiences expect women, even if flawed and snobbish at first sight, to reform and become strong, independent, and harmonious partners in work and family.

That the moral direction is not conforming with the commentator's not clearly stated personal cultural values just shows how narrow minded that one is despite pretending to the contrary in her profile which claims six months of watching with MDL previous to joining on October 6, 2025 and which offers a very shrill exposé on her viewing most fellow users as "fanatics", from the point of view of a person who wants to appear "high and above all".

To me such moral stance is in itself rather dubious, despite the list of dramas "watched" on the profile is in my mind quite a good sample. The ratings attached to "completed" ones is even more lenient and high as my own, making me very surprised, although wait.... The "sample list" of 28 titles did not include other than "entertainment value" ones, contrary to the stance of looking for "proximity to reality". Also, all the dramas listed show a surprising timeline of posting. They appear to have been rated and completed 6 days ago (for 9 out of 28 titles). It is of course possible to go back and complete dramas after a while, and long after joining, but it still looks bizarre to see those titles there all pretending to be completed on same day!

So, I strongly suspect the profile to have aligned a number of "dramas watched" in a hurry, for the purpose of shooting down Zhao Lusi's drama with a 1. And I would also believe the commentator is precisely a fanatical anti-fan intent on ranting against the actress. The use of deformed first name is often a dead give away from the ungodly members of that clique from "water army" masquerading as real drama audience.

There's apparently another one featuring Chen Chuhuan & Liu Zhuoqing but no more info than YouTube upload "title" /description : Illegitimate girl was sold to gang boss who was pitiless, but her sweet body fragrance made him fall.

Beyond the title, it is a story of suspected murder and revenge, the female protagonist is convinced that the gang boss is the killer of her father and approaches him to find evidence. She uses her stepbrother's pushing her into his arms to get money for the company left interim to him, although in fact he is gambling it all away and always eager to use his despised stepsister to sell her.
It is a very violent drama, lots of abuse, beatings... but it still gets a happy end once the mystery is solved and the protagonists find that they still fell in love after all the "misunderstandings".
(probably not everyone's cup of tea, although no fault from ML who acts as the role wants it)

They usually are deleted after a short while. Perhaps it it better to put links to Youtube uploads in spoilers, although I am not sure it helps much, if AI tools are scrubbing the Net from what is deemed should not be available too freely.... Even if getting a taste may lure some people to sign up on Dramabox to watch complete short & vertical dramas -- full of so many ads in addition to strange subtitling, that many give up, apparently.
