The rumors are weird no one is saying how did he fall like was the windows broken ? How does one fall off a window
Easy peasy. Open it, lean out, slide out or fall from a dizzy spell, with or without a mosquito net. Especially if you are standing on a high windowsill like the ones often found in Beijing high end apartments when they are often used to lie on and read or even rest.
It also happens to window cleaners btw, if they have not secured themselves with relevant equipment.
The twin of a former classmate of mine fell to her death that way, from inebriation, in Amsterdam, Netherlands, while drinking herself stupid with other party goers. She opened a window, stood on a chair to do so, because it was not easy to open, and fell out, after probably believing she could fly. Police ruled it as an accident with no foul play, no-one pushing her out, either, no clear suicidal intent. The friends who saw her fall suffered nightmares for long, her twin and parents were heartbroken and had to deal with repatriating her remains to their home country.
There are dozens of tales about mothers losing a small child who leans out of a window in tall buildings. Similar reason: kids and inebriated adults don't evaluate danger as sober adults do.
Someone asked why poor Alan Yu's passing was not even mentioned originally. Only to then post this attention grabbing…
Agree with you generally although I don't believe MDL consciously " try and generate hate and whip up conflict in an already sad death." The police report was not put out in translation as suspicious, it is the commentators who are going overboard with imagination, perhaps they watched too many revenge or vertical dramas and think this is reality ?
I wholeheartedly agree with the authorities and security. People are foul and there was speculation the day after…
I totally agree with you about the speed of reaction especially with videos and fantastical allegations such as "he carried a friend's Rolex in his pocket" (wtf?!) and totally unbelievable "he swallowed a USB probably/surely loaded with incriminating information" and was "swiftly cremated before autopsy" All that immediately made me highly suspicious of the rumors.
C-netizens and worse, foreign media are fond of scandals, and it is a fact that foreign agencies use every possible means to agitate and perpetuate the Uyghur torture and concentration camp charade, and accuse "powerful people" leading up to "evil CCP" (the proper abbreviation is CPC btw, so when you spot that, you may think of Taiwanese hackers and operatives paid by a certain foreign agency... They don't stoop to foment and applaud violence on the streets and spread toxic innuendos)
So, no, I have no doubt about police reports and believe they are accurate. No hidden link to "evil Xi Jinping" who probably never heard about the actor before.
Yu Menglong was not a known dissenter to be silenced. He was a pretty face, sure, but throwing about suspicion that he was sexually tempting to other men is both a stretch and an insult to his memory and family. I am sorry for his mother who is subjected to other rumors now, and for his colleagues who were drawn into the witch hunt.
There are also links in this case to foreign influence and Taiwan agitators who have an agenda to use any story to paint China black, even if it may cause distrust of Chinese people and even ABCs abroad, or wider Asian hate, such as the Thai doctor who was mauled during covid because he "looked Chinese". Such incidents are dismissed as collateral damage by the agitators who masquerade as going to seek "Justice" and war against all who go against their rants.
Now we have an Avaaz petition getting traction : Avaaz is not in China and it's been a while since it got under the thumb of a certain agency to foment trouble in various countries while playing saintly whistle-blower about say, Indian girls burned or raped and other atrocities which I am sure do happen. In some cases, the campaigns on the other hand, are simply arising from rumors and biases and propaganda, lies and brainwashing to a political end : in this instance, fighting China influence and reputation, dismissing the evils done in the past against the country, painting all Chinese as liars to break trust in business deals, or as copycat patent thieves (despite the humongous number of patents China has registered and the myriad of homegrown innovations the country has brought to the world over millennia) so some campaigns are highly suspicious, like in this case.
are you only aware about it now ? But no wonder : even Marcus was taken by surprise so he did not announce it before yesterday's report... Only the keen eyed or lucky strike explorers of WeTV noticed from start, since this drama was one which got announced same day as it aired with no further warning! Or those who read commentators mentions on Marcus' Thursday report and paid attention to those of some sharp observers there, like "Peggy Tanaka" and such who are happy to provide the latest fact or melon about impending airing dramas. Or... those who read this MDL comments column on Thursday.

It has been deleted under that link, but you can still find it there under another link if you enter the name of the movie in DM search engine ; it's another take on the story that also was adapted as drama starring Zhao Lusi and William Chan, airdropped on WeTV yesterday Sept.26, 2025
Omg help I sent a friend request before fully reading ur profile 💔😅
No offense taken 😅 Honored that you thought to add me. But for my own reasons including privacy, I don't accept friends requests on MDL. Am fine with DM for reasons like adding info, or opinions, about dramas or music, that can't be addressed in the running comments about dramas or added to my Companion pieces (although I am somewhat too busy at the moment to tackle new ones). btw your comment reminded me I needed to update my profile and watchlist log 😘 I also added some flowers for Rosy although she is unlikely to be aware of those virtual bouquets assembled on MDL. Cheers, and enjoy the drama!
I was wondering why this has an 8.3 rating already on it's first day and yup, 21 people have already rated this…
it's ok and desirable to rate episodes, but there should be a safeguard against people and haters who claim to have watched it all before airing (or advance last airing) ends and post dishonest reviews. MDL algorithm needs some adjustment instead of letting shady users vent their bile, or overeager fans discredit the fandom through posting other unreliable reviews. My opinion: the rating section should be swept clean already and rating only allowed after time has elapsed sufficiently to make it likely that a drama is rated with sincerity.
Not yet, they just dropped the episodes out of nowhere, no announcement, no promotion, let alone schedule
even Alibaba may get tired of that KU blundering and killing gold eggs laying chattel. If they pull out too, it might be interesting to see if and how they'll survive. Rosy will, anyway.
All her outfits are pretty… my sweaty armpits would never allow me to be that great 😩.
yes, but sitting bare shoulders under the a/c even in sweltering heat is not recommended.
Reminds me that this 2025 summer was super exhausting with humid temperatures relentlessly in white hot zone for several months, in most of the country. Nanjing felt like a hammam bath screwed up to small boil. The shopping malls were more sought after than the Suzhou or Yu gardens or the Bund, but even within Shanghai tower, reaching over 600m up in the air, it still did not feel cool. Only Shangri-La was, but there, it was drenched in relentless rain showers. Better to seek refuge within The gate to the Orient, in Suzhou, which had a nice ice-skating rink and cool Häagan Dasz advance ice cream mooncakes treats. Presently sampling contentedly the flower cakes purchased at the airport, while the temperatures have fallen and autumn in its guihua scented splendor is at the door. 🤣
yeah it was written in Chinese 半年前,so 6 months ago. Idk where you watched it, on the website I used they…
Well the AI there has improved then, nothing like the dreaded Mango TV subtitles that make one go bald from scratching head and putting sound on stronger until neighbors complain, to understand in the original language, and eyes peeled to read the small text 🤣 🤣 🤣
Yes there's that... I am happy the heat is rising 😂 The posters are already recorded in the photo sections on the Baidu's drama page, glad to see someones are also reposting them in the MDL drama page photo section. It's also possible although she won't see it, to keep adding some more flowers to our girl's artist page on MDL.
I added the section about this drama from my ongoing actor Profile, with relevant links, in the always interesting Discussions section above, direct link below:
