Aside from Kubota Masataka (who is great), the casting is completely off imo. Fugigaya Taisuke's portrayal is…
I totally agree on all points. however the Kirishima Kubota is portraying is also very different from the manga or tw drama. which is also a shame.
plus the pace and the writing of this jdrama is very off.
It kinda makes you wish you can unsee something and pretend there never was a jdrama to begin with *sigh*
wtf is going on with Kirishima? is this a love triangle? WHY?!
if anything he should be into Kashino.. in a sick and twisted way.. but Aso?
it seems like this is going into a very different direction than the manga ;__;
OMG while watching these episodes there are millions of hints that Yoon Shi Woo and Hwang Sun Ah are actually…
I think it's quite obvious. She had pink pants when principal hwang brought her to Moorim school.. same as the little girl Shi Woos supposed father carried. Both have a trauma of fire. And Sun Ah feels drawn to her brother. The only thing that still puzzles me is why principal hwang only rescued the girl. Where was Shi Woo? Why did he end up alone in the wood?
I was looking forward to this.. but as a fan of the manga and the taiwanese drama the japanese adaption is disappointing.…
and it only gets darker. I'm not sure Jdramas are willing to really show that much dark. They will probably just hint at it and then hastily skip over the ugly parts.. like the sexual harrassment scene.. and Kashino threatening to push the teacher down the stairs.
Btw. who the heck is Kashino Takara. Did they invent another brother? I don't remember someone with that name.

Yes, it's a shame. But I kind of expected it to suck when I saw the cast. Now I hope there will be a korean adaptation some day.. at least they get drama and tragedy right...
Did you like the taiwanese version? I think they really hit the right tone. It's was quite dark and twisted. The Kirishima character was really creepy xD
it started strong. I was really excited and at the edge of my seat waiting for the next episodes... and then I kinda lost interest.. and now I'm stuck somewhere in the middle and not sure if I should go on or just drop it.
Let's face it.. this school doesn't teach shit.. nobody there is really good at martial arts, although they are supposed to be the best in the world. But hey, they can cook.. kinda..
Exams are about fashion, cooking and parties. And meditation class is the best class for cheating. "what did you see?"... "um.... fire? spiders! cockroaches!"
And still.. I can't get over the awesomeness of this drama ^^; is there some brainwashing going on while watching? I love this drama that doesn't make sense. and ooooh, the bromance!
I was looking forward to this.. but as a fan of the manga and the taiwanese drama the japanese adaption is disappointing. what's up with the pacing? is this a 100m sprint? also, the character portrayal leaves something to be desired. Aso is not really timid.. she is opening up with the speed of light. and Kashino doesn't really look and feel like a nonchalant heartbreaker to me. I really wish they wouldn't use Johnnys for everything. Don't get me wrong. I like Fujigaya. But he is no the best choice as Kashino. Kubota on the other hand will probably be an excellent Kirishima.. if only the pacing wasn't that off.. why does he already appear in the first episode?
Another weak point is the music. A Johnny as main character always spells doom for the soundtrack. This is a dark and depressing drama (or at least it should be). why do they always have to use upbeat pop music as background music? This is something I really hate in jdramas.. for example some Johnnys are not that bad at acting.. and there is a sad scene. I'm totally immersed and worked up.. tears start to spill and suddenly an Arashi (or whatever) song starts in the background and everything dries up in me and cringes.. please show some common sense and match the background music with the atmosphere of the scenes!
And for gods sake, SLOW DOWN THE PACE! don't adapt a 16 volume manga if you only have one season with 11+ episodes.
