it's really interesting how different the book and tv series are. wiping their memories and clearing the doors again is also an interesting twist.
I was totally confused while watching the show when Li Dongyuan fell in love with a female Ruan Baijie although we never saw him crossdress in the drama. I didn't even recognize him in the photo.
Also not a big fan of the 50 year gap. 1 year separation sure sounds better.

Can you tell me what's different in the book? I finished the drama, but the writing style of the novel is not my-cup-of-tea so I will probably never read this till the end

I have a question.. maybe for someone who read the original work..
I'm just at ep 8 now (Level 5 Door).. but I was wondering.. why does Ruan Lan Zhu like Ling Jiu Shi so much and helps him since the beginning? was it love at first sight or are there reasons that were censored? seems a bit like insta-love. or is this something that is explained later?

Aw, I'm satisfied with the ending. I liked it more than the original. Kurosagis relationships with Tsurara, Katsuragi and his sidekick and even the cop were more nuanced and it didn't feel like he was all alone. (I really disliked the Katsuragi of the 2006 version.)
The ending was quite wholesome.
Also, Hirano Sho really delivered! His expressions often hit me in the feels <3
