I watched Ep 23 & 24. He tried to stop her from going into the Willow Garden many times but she insisted. She knew what’s the worst case scenario which is to fall under Japanese’s hands yet she still chose to go. What could he do? He tried to think of ways to save her but it’s futile so the best thing he could do to lessen her suffering was to let her know how much she meant to him in words that only they understood & killed her quickly himself so she wouldn’t have to be in pain longer. And she was aware & understood him all throughout. ZZF’s motivation & characteristics are very different from Cell 8.

I’m interested in the history of that time but I couldn’t find much details on him. He’s definitely extraordinary to survive through all those years.

He was wrong and he admitted it. You gotta remember that they’re all living in dangerous times that one mistake could cause your life. He didn’t know who GYZ was. You and I know coz we’re watching the drama abt him. He didn’t know what happened & he knew HZP. Naturally he would suspect someone he doesn’t know rather than his friend. I was mad at him too but I wouldn’t say he’s a bad person.

Omg Ep 24 is gonna be intense.

I also think he’s rather hot 🤣 piercing eyes and sharp jaw.

I’m getting tired of Ruotong crying and just more crying 🤣 Haimo’s strong & decisive, the kind of girl that GYZ needed in times of chaos & turmoil.

I think at this point, we’re still unclear what ZZF is deep down. I suspect that what we think we know abt him is still not the last layer. Abt Cell 8, I believe he does care abt his wife but he loves himself more. Him & ZZF both chose survival before ideals but the difference is ZZF won’t sacrifice his family & friends but Cell 8 would, as seen from the way he threw his baby.

Of course, I also think that IF he’ll switch to the CPC again, it’s not for any ideology or any good intention but for his own survival.

He’s the type that wants his own survival above others but he does experience inner guilt as seen from his facial expressions. We don’t know how much this drama takes from the real historical person he’s based on but from what I read, that real person Hu Junhe was incarcerated 4x in his lifetime with the last one being 28 yrs. I’m more amazed that they didn’t kill him and he lived up to 86 yrs old. Looking at the no. of eps left, I don’t think they’ll follow closely to history & might just kill off ZZF or it might end with him being caught.

ZZF did say that he came from CPC to KMT to Wang Regime. He was betrayed by someone he trusted in the CPC. But I have a feeling that he will make a full circle and help the CPC again.

The way Cell 8 cried and sighed in front of his wife was so fake. I dunno if it’s the actor or was it intentional but it serves the purpose to make him more despicable.

His few scenes were so powerful. I would gladly rewatch his scenes.

His character is getting more and more interesting as he himself is being cornered. It’s getting fun 😂

I’m really hoping that they will work together now that he voluntarily requested GYZ to contact CPC’s side.

Oooh Saruman is worse. He’s pure evil. I think I dunno, I do hope that Zhou Zhifei has some redemption arc or a bit of conscience in him.
