It was just an unfortunate thing that Yingtao joined a bit too late in S1 for the audience to connect with her. So I’m glad they gave her more scenes in S2 for us to know her more. I hope in S3, SWM will express his appreciation for her more coz it feels to me that he’s taking Yingtao for granted.

I really think it’s good enough to show a scene where Xuehuan excitedly greets Xijun. That won’t take even more than a min. To me it’s also a matter of consistency.

Oh he will break too. Just you wait 🤣 I am a fan of Republican Era dramas despite all the repetitive theme and expected ending. There’s something charming abt that era and the aesthetics of that time for me. But I watched so many that I do pay attention to good ones. I heard good things abt the director and screenwriter so I’m having a higher expectation for this drama. Plus I’m a Zhang Songwen fan 🤣 gotta support.

Binged the 4 episodes and very happy with the pace and plot so far. Those buildings interiors are gorgeous. Amazing acting from the actors but wow Zhang Fengyi’s screen charisma is amazing.

Wow if I have nothing to watch I might check it out. I thought The Disguiser was the best Republican Era spy drama. I really liked that one.

Well don’t forget he played Gao Qiqiang😏. I also wish he’s a double agent but I think he’s not. He’s definitely working for the Japanese as a means for survival but we shall see. I’m guessing he will form some sort of friendship with Gu Yizhong.

🤣 I read the comments below and each one has their own version of his name so I came to the conclusion that they intentionally didn't wanna say his name properly as spite.

I guess I can understand how his feelings of reverence to SZH turned into an obsessive hatred through the years coz he felt betrayed by his idol but the dude still cannot be forgiven for what he did to SZH. At least not yet.

My only regret is that there are ppl who only watch S2 and they wouldn't know what Xijun and Xuehuan went through together. That part of their story was so memorable.
