I think it’s a collective trauma mainly for the older generation and they won’t allow the younger generation forget what the country went through. In a way it’s what made them strong today. Also they have reasons to replay this trauma coz there are so many Japanese revisionists out there denying what Imperial Japan did to China.

Oops my ancestors did too, but 50 years?! I didn’t know it was this long! Thanks for the insight. I watched many dramas of this genre so I expected it but now that you mentioned the reasons it made sense why these dramas always have to end like this. It’s almost similar to those SEA dramas of Chinese immigrants to Nanyang. They always had to show how hard they struggled to carve out a new life in a foreign land & all those sad dramas that come with it.

I hope they make MLC2. I wanna believe that Li Lianhua is still alive.

I don't hate Ruotong. I like her as GYZ's gf but she's written so badly that throughout most of the drama she was just crying and being naive until finally now so near the end of the drama she finally does something. And yes just like what some had said, her pointing the gun at GYZ when he needed trust the most made me angry at her too but I've forgiven the character LOL. Her ways of solving life/death problems are too naive imo but as a person, I do like her. I like Haimo too but GYZ does not love her. She has to accept that.

I think they both wanna puke inside 🤣

The pacing is good at the beginning but slows down later and I'm still watching, 6 eps left for me. Still enjoying it despite loopholes and stuff.

The Knockout is rated 8.5 the last time I checked on Douban. Not sure about now. But that one is really really good. Totally different genre. In China, TK and especially the villain Gao Qiqiang has reached a cult-level LOL
