Thinking of starting this but a little hesitant based on some comments about ML being, well, meh.
I like ML, 2nd ML and 3ML too. It really depends on individual views. The ML is funny and inexperienced but he’s kind-hearted and care for the people. For me, it’s quite refreshing to watch a drama where the ML is not always smart, badass and a hero. Do give it a watch and decide for yourself. I really don’t think it’s as bad as what many ppl here said about him.
Omg can someone kill that Peeping Tom already?! Other things: 1. Xiu’er is so sweet. I actually think she and Tang Shaoyi make a sweet pair. 2. I can’t help feeling disappointed at BOTH Shang Yizhi & Amai after SYZ shot Cuiyan dead. None of them cared to go check him to see who he is or if he’s really dead. They just didn’t care?! What if that’s their own ppl from Yuzhou? The 2 of them only cared abt themselves.

Yup but I don’t think she will forgive him. The fact is he did kill her parents but MAYBE he will die to protect her one last time and as a payback 🤷♀️. Then before his death maybe he will reveal the truth to her.

After what he said on Ep 20, my guess is that the shitty emperor forced Chen Qi to kill Amai’s parents, using ‘Chen Qi colluding with Beimo’ as a smokescreen.

Agree except the last point. I think in the end Amai won’t be able to join the army because it’s against the law for women to become soldiers. She would’ve achieved her mission & I don’t know what she’ll end up doing but my guess is not a soldier anymore.

About Chen Qi & Amai, every time they flashback to their childhood I tear up. Those scenes are brief but so full of sadness and grief.
We have so many emperors dressed up like well, emperor, we can have more than one emperor dressed down I guess…
They did the same with the empress in Luoyang and that’s even worse. I thought she’d be badass but in the end she’s just pointless and very meh in the drama.

This drama is unique because it’s not heavy like other war dramas. There’s comedy in appropriate amount and there are intense scenes as well. The battles are not that violent and bloody, but it’s not child’s play either. Jut the right balance for one to enjoy the drama without feeling stressed and depressed.
