which controversy?.... I noticed the huge drop, too... communist era movies aren't popular, I rarely watch them…
From what I read in the comments on Weibo, he’s being targeted lately because there were several negative HS topics abt him recently. I’m not his fan so didn’t keep track of his news. I would be concerned if I were him and his studio because I’ve seen a pattern of actors getting cancelled or even soft banned for unfounded rumors and slanders when their popularity rises.
The Marquis Dingnan, Shang Yizhi’s adopted father, under the order of the emperor.
I think that’s because technically Shang Wei did kill her family although under the emperor’s order. She’s afraid that SYZ will be killed by Amai one day. She doesn’t trust Amai. Unless there’s a bigger reason we don’t know yet. I still believe the emperor had ordered it because Shang Wei is not that kind of person who would kill innocent lives if he had a choice.
Surely not, please not MaRong love triangle, such an irritating character, she gives me a headache.
I wish they had maintained the character as a male instead of changing it into a female. We have enough female side characters and Cao An. I think that’s good enough. I don’t like the jealousy trope,
Gosh the plot twists! - So now we know why Amai will not end up with Shang Yizhi. I just wanna know why Yizhi’s father wanted to kill Amai’s father. - Crown prince’s suicide is soooo stupid & unnecessary! Lazy scriptwriter writing nonsense to move the plot forward. I hate that this drama is going down a disappointing route. - The emperor getting a stroke is unexpected 🤣 I think Yizhi will have to marry PM Lin’s daughter & he will eventually become the emperor. - This part of the story is quite boring & I miss Amai in the army & fighting with Beimo. Heck I miss Chen Qi too!
sounded funny 🤣 must be some communist expression of the time🤣 were they 'speculating' how to earn some…
That could be it. So that means it’s something not allowed in the past but not anymore in the late 70s? Coz Wangxin and others repeated to Ma Kui that he needs to shift towards modernization? Forgot what the phrase they used.

The train itself is gorgeous. I love those steam locomotives. 70s in China must be a tough time for the people as they’ve been through the Cultural Revolution. I’m guessing that ‘speculation’ thingy is also something not allowed by the communist party but I’m not sure what it is exactly 🤔
