Now let's discuss the concept of lesser evil for a second. You see in most Kdrama where there is a clear antagonist,…
Let us see how the writer takes the romance forward. I have high hopes for the rest of the story. I am really liking the action-heavy intense part of this drama which has frankly speaking made it stand apart from other romance K-Dramas out there. Moreover, Soo Ho has actually shown that before being a spy, he is human as well. He tried to release, feed, and bandage the FL for the unconditional help she gave him initially. As a terrorist having hostages, he has taken actions in a very cool-headed and calculating way for the best of their mission. I don't think there are any ethics involved when it comes terrorists having hostages.

@mastamma Don't tell me, despite living in India, you never knew about the Padmavati controversy. You know what?…
@shraddhasingh I think you should not assume that I don't know about controversies related to historical dramas/movies in India. I do know about the Padmavati controversy and why its name was changed to Padmavat and the rest of the incidents. Even then set of that movie was vandalized and the film director was beaten which IMO was not the legal or right way to show dissent.

India has had a plethora of movies showing romance between Indian ML/FL and the other protagonist from the neighboring country like Gadar Ek Prem Katha (2001), Veer Zara (2004), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Raazi (2018), etc. As far as the partition is considered, sorry to break that to you that the other country spy/intelligence agency did not exist in 1947 so a spy from that country will be ridiculous but I will still root for it if it's entertaining. Nazi - Jewish romance too have examples in media like For Such a Time novel by Kate Breslin (2014) or the film The Exception (2016)
The point is none of the above-mentioned media set in historical settings having sensitive & controversial elements were banned. People showed their dissent but the creators were allowed to showcase their work to the world which is the right for makers for Snowdrop as well.

Please don't think of it as a fight. It's great to find people of different opinions and I appreciate that the tone of your comment is not offensive at all. Only when challenged by someone, you can have better clarity in your thought/opinion. I do agree with your opinion that I am not in a position to tell the internet about making or distorting Korea's history. I am only arguing about the fundamentals of 'historical distortion' that have always seemed very superficial, illogical, and dubious to me regardless of whether these sorts of claims were made by my countrymen or by South Koreans.

I will point out whatever I think is right and whatever I think is wrong. I will just not do one thing i.e. shutting people's mouths who voice a different opinion than me or canceling them on social media. I also think that it's never disrespectful to teach any concept to anyone anytime anywhere.

Happy commenting. Namaste

I come from India and we also share a very bitter history with one particular neighbor and movies based on espionage and politics are very sensitive as well as controversial when it comes to showing the military or people of 'that neighbor' in good light.

People often forget that they are watching a fictional story having fictional characters who just serve the creative imagination of the writer and the plot. How can one distort history by creating a show? Does showing that your enemy has good people, as well as disproportionately more bad people, change history? History is something that has happened in the past that can not be distorted or re-written today even if someone tries to do so. Anyone can look upon the internet on ANSP and can see what kind of an agency were they in 1987, do you need to watch Snowdrop to form, change or disapprove your opinion?

After watching Episode 5 of this drama just now, I can say with conviction that this has to be one of the most intense pieces of drama I have seen in my journey of watching over 100 Korean dramas in the last 4 years. This show so far is a masterpiece in making and I feel sorry for those people outside as well as inside South Korea who just want to cancel the show or are avoiding it due to the unnecessary controversy surrounding it. They all are missing a gem of a show.

I am a great fan of the webtoon and honestly believes it is among the best psychological horror stories with monsters , human emotions & drama.
The drama is not a faithful adaptation of the webtoon, so there are many areas where the webtoon completely outshines the drama but I have to say that people need to watch this because the director has done a phenomenal work along with the writer as they have not only provided a great action packed humane story with ordinary people under extraordinary conditions but also laid a solid foundation of a dystopian world which can be explored further in future sequels in just 10 episodes!
If you keep comparing the drama with the webtoon, you will not be able to feel & enjoy it. The last 3 episodes are terrific and the series though not heavy on the psychological front like the webtoon but still is able to showcase how people inner desire can manifest in form of literal demons and please don't let me start on the deaths of certain characters, it was heartbreaking to say the least. Overall it was a fun rollercoaster ride of emotion as well as action.

I dropped temperature of love because the second lead was insufferable (as much as I love kim jae wook) and I…
I agree that love triangle and introduction of ML/FL's exes are the most overused & irritating cliche in Korean romcoms and I too will drop this drama if the writer relies too much on this cheap plot device.
On Record of Youth Sep 22, 2020
I think many people have expressed that they don't like certain aspects of this drama and I can totally understand that. But subjectively I have became really fond of this drama because :-
1) Park Bo Gum's terrific acting (always knew he had the talent)

2) His organic chemistry with Park So Dam (damn she looks so cute man people complaining about why they have fallen in love so early have missed the point completely)

3) The focus is not on romance but romance being part of your youth. And since I am an Indian and in our culture mostly men live with their parents so the conflict you face with your parents especially when it comes to your career is so relatable and have been shown the most realistic way possible without any sugarcoating.

4) People are not liking the plot which I agree that its kinda slow but thats how it looks to a person watching from far. Just put yourself in Park Bo Gum's shoes and you will realise a lot has happened in each & every episode. (Empathy is the key here don't watch everything in KDrama land from escapist perspective please do try to see things as if they are real then it really makes your mind think logically) prime example is try to understand why does ML's father is not fond of him & his grandfather instead of saying he is such a useless & irritating character etc.

5) People have criticised that direction is not good which according to me has been terrific my friends! the way the director is juxtapositioning the two male leads families is very smart & subtle. Please don't always go after loud things but sometimes try to hear the simple & quiet things as well in your life.

6) Writer nim 's previous Kdrama Temperature of Love was not that great so people are assuming that this will be bad too. So, here is the biggest defence possible. King the eternal Monarch, the Heirs which are objectively bad (please fight me if you want) and Goblin & Mr. Sunshine which are objectively good (same :-)) have been written by same writer. So, please don't think that people don't change, its a very negative thought to have.

7) Record of Youth's plot which is its only weak point, I think will blow up soon in coming episodes so stay tuned and I am extremely grateful to those who criticise this every week in the comment section because you coming week after week shows that you like the drama in some twisted way so no problem keep saying that its overrated for being 8.7 or 8.8 at the end the rating will level out. kisskh doesn't have a single drama having a rating of >8.5 which is overrated

Great yaar, proud of our Indian Hallyu community.Parenting has been one of the most central point in plot progression in most korean dramas and Korean & Indian society being Asian in general have many things common when it comes to parenthood. Good well researched article!

You're right. For what I've seen I can't give 2 stars because to be honest that's too much, it would be enough…
And my review to your review will be 1 star as well. But atleast I read your ENTIRE review and not just read the starting 2 lines and formed my opinion. Please don't take anything personally and keep watching dramas that suit you. Hope one day after the drama is finished you will give it one more try when you will hear its critical buzz (probably)

Okay, sis... Since when giving a bad review means that you don't appreciate the crew that's working at the drama??…
AnabirLili takes things more sportingly than you it seems. Haha But since I love two way discussion here comes my response:-
Okay, bro...

Ques 1: Since when giving a bad review means that you don't appreciate the crew that's working at the drama??

Ans: Please understand basic things like when anyone reviews a drama, he/she reviews the drama in totality. In the review of which you are a fan of, the reviewer was dissapointed by plain characters, action & story which means if you are not dumb enough that the reviewer didn't like the writer & the action director efforts and you should know not liking === not appreciating which is totally fine I don't appreciate Kim Eun Sook writing of King Monarch whatever it was (watched till 6 ep then dropped) but I am not running around saying that 1 star to King the last monarch, why? coz first watch the entire 16 ep then give 1 star to the entire 16 eps. I am against pre mature reviews and will point out whenever I see them.

Ques 2: Also who tf said that she was trying to stop anyone from watching it?? She was just stating her opinion about the first two episodes.

Ans: Yes I agree that she directly didn't say that don't watch this drama BUT opinionated people must understand that there are indirect consequences of their action all the time and they should accept criticism if they have the guts to criticise, any new people who visits the site & on seeing 2 stars is sub-consciously driven towards not watching the drama formulating a negative bias

Ques 3: She was just stating her opinion about the first two episodes. She commented what she saw, which I copletly agree with, so I don't really see the problem here.

Ans: You must understand that she has the right to comment what she saw and state her opinion but only after watching the whole bit not the first 2 eps bit. Analogy: You going to watch Infinity war and after watching 20 mins of a 180 mins movie saying it is 2 stars to my taste and publishing review on internet is stupid don't you think. People who come to read reviews after the drama has been completed will read the review and say this drama was so bad that someone gave 2 stars to the whole drama having 16 eps.

Ques 4: People have to know the bad reviews also, not only the good ones.

Ans: Yes please start putting GOOD bad reviews of a drama after watching it in its entirety

Oh I feel bad for you, but I understand not every drama is for everyone and subjectively everyone thinks & feels differently. I hoped since you have given 2 stars after watching 2 episodes ,may be you should just stick around for 8 more episodes and since you have watched 10 episodes then you should drop this drama after giving it 10 stars, what you say? :-))) Its because of people like you who can't even digest anything which slightly deviate from what they are used to watch , that make things awkward for everyone.

I am not saying that you should not give 2 stars to a drama which you hate [I absolutely hated Boys over Flowers and dropped it after 10 eps], fair thats your right, BUT its actually stupid to give REVIEW and then give 2 stars which I would like to point you that people coming to the site when they visit the drama page will have all these pre mature reviews of idiots like you and also those who have given 10 stars as well (are you guys kind of clairvoyant that all the remaining eps will be 10/10 seriously???) pop up and influence their decision.

I liked this drama even rated it 10/10 but didn't post any review here yet coz dude the drama has not completely aired. I know people will say MDL is not stopping us from writing reviews then who are you to stop us? Ok Now a days people are hell bent on exercising their fundamental right to speech but please also know that you all have fundamental duty to respect people hardwork which they have put into this drama from writers to actors everyone, your pre-mature silly reviews ruins the mood and damages the image of the drama. And next time remember internet is a place where non-sense is never tolerated.

I don't agree with you on this just hear my opinion okay!
First) Yes 2019 has not been a great year of Korean dramas on Korean Television channels BUT Netflix has been killing it with Korean dramas this year and started to revitalize and change the way we perceive and see kdramas (Eg: Kingdom and Arthdal)
Second) 2018 was the best year for Korean Dramas by far. I watched so many dramas this year Here is the list of kdramas that aired or started airing in 2018 :-
1) Laughter at Waikiki
2) Sky Castle
3) My Ahjussi
4)Mr. Sunshine
5)Life on Mars
6)Miss Hammurabi
7)Whats wrong with Secretary Kim
8)Are you human too
9)Mother
10)Live
11)The Guest
12)Children of Nobody

I have tried so many times but no one ever watched k-drama.. I agree with @eskimo that it's tougher to tell someone…
I also belong to the same community as you and brother trust me tell anyone that you love kdramas and then show them pics of korean actresses like Park Min Young or Park Shin Hye or my crush IU they will surely be overwhelmed by their cuteness & hotness and will never in their life tease you for liking Kdramas. I even changed my cover photo on fb to IU's cute face. Keep trying & don't give up as everyone is just one step away from being addicted to kdrama crack. For me it was when the starting tune of the song "First Love" started playing when I accidently clicked on episode 1 of "Pinocchio" while trying to watch "Gehrayiyaan" on viu.
