5 episodes in and this drama has ended my cdrama dry spell 🎉🎉.

He has clarity of mind and wisdom of a much older person…even though some readers might feel that Jiang Mu doesn’t balance him out, but he loves her precisely for her purity, loyalty and complete trust in him. It’s that ray of sun shining onto his miserable existence. He doesn’t want that ray of light to be dimmed because then he would lose it. The author makes total sense. And he made the right decision to not tell her because at the end, because of his unconditional and unselfish love ,he gets to live in the light with her. She is always a constant, consistently shining light. To her credit, she remains steadfast even through all the years of no contact. Life is “fair” in that way, it will throw you off but it will bring you back again, it’s never a one-to-one exchange. There is no need to make her suffer so much along as well, though I think to miss someone so much and not be able to contact him is very much a form of suffering in itself. If her character turned out differently, it would certainly be a different story.

Well, she did pull off the melancholic assassin role in My Journey To You which I initially thought would be a stretch for her.

Yes I started reading this because 1) it’s relatively short, and 2) I saw and like the drama pairing of Zhou Yi Ran and Bao Shang En. Visuals make reading the novel even more satisfying.

Yes I like Esther, except wish her voice register was lower. It does impact the characterisation. That’s her natural pitch though, I think? I like that although Jiang Mu’s sheltered, she’s gutsy and intelligent too.

This novel is well- written, talk about heat index 🔥. I have had He Yu on my radar for a while now, I think he’s a good choice for this role. Esther Yu too, should pull this off easily. The BTS shorts are sizzling. This looks like it’s gonna be a breakthrough performance for He Yu.

Totally agree. Binged read the whole novel. I think Jiang Mu did the best she could - she was also held back by circumstances. She was the one who let off the sparklers that saved his life ultimately. Jin Chao - what a man, manliest man ever, sigh. He Yu and Yu Shu Xin - hope they can translate the 🔥🔥 between them to the screen !!

Not sure if you’ve tried Perfect Match, with its ensemble cast? I started it after trying a few currently airing dramas and this was the only one I found myself continuing and bingeing the last ten episodes. It hits its stride somewhere in the middle and becomes a pleasant and heartwarming watch till the end. Of course totally different from GOTD and though I didn’t take to the first couple’s story, I enjoyed the rest especially the youngest sister’s chapter. Now I truly have nothing I want to watch though, sigh.

I held out watching the last three episodes so that I could make it last longer because this kind of dramatic gem comes once in a blue moon. GOTD really delivers the whole package.

Am here very late to the drama after Everlasting Longing. Kudos to SWL - he pulled it off convincingly even though he was so young when he played this role. Yes he did look young next to his co-star but their relationship was very organic and sweet.

Very late to this drama and your review, but very much agree with you. Initially doubted the pairing would work but they made it very natural and not jarring at all. Very sweet indeed. Ah, if only I were 18 again. Commendable acting by SWL, being so young yet convincing.

This drama was GOOD……..a tale of adventure, mystery, good vs evil and the heroes amongst us. And funny too! Respect for Dylan Wang 👏👏👏 - he acted out his heart here; his elocution might need work but he totally embodied Xu Qi An, his little smirks and grins all on point. Perfect casting choice.

He looks SO GOOD in the Beixuan costumes and hair 🔥.

Just finished this drama. I’m gutted for Qimin, the most tragic character. Kept watching for the handsome SWL but also stayed for the rest of the supporting cast. A likeable cast that did a decent job with a less than stellar script and poor post production. Unfortunately, the most jarring was the lead actress. Beixuan costumes and hair were gorgeous. Wolf Lord lost his sparkle somewhere in Yannan, sigh. Oh, I have the ending theme song by Tiger Hu on loop! All in all, an easy watch although it did drag in the Yannan chapter.

I just finished reading the novel and I love it 🥰, in fact I binged it. What an epic story, although a tad convoluted at times. The lead characters are written with lots of chemistry. Characters and events from the past are nicely tied up with the present, no loose ends. Yes please fast track the post production and release the drama version ASAP! Hope it lives up to the novel.
