For some strange reason, Lee Hyun Woo reminds me of that mean tweet I read about Gerard Butler. "Does Gerard Butler have a massive student loan or something? Is that why he keeps starring in all these shitty movies?" I feel like one could substitute Lee Hyun Woo there as the boy is actually one of the few decent young actors but he's been stuck in either wallpaper roles or simply shitty and lazy productions. Though I'm not sure if this is a trend as I have absolutely no idea what Yeo Jin Gu was doing in Orange Marmalade. If you decide to venture into Moorim school then traverse this road knowing it's a cringe worthy, not quite guilty pleasure that one will have absolutely no trouble dropping. The show is centered around a school that teaches martial arts. The show has some mythical elements but you won't care about that as silly subplots that offer absolutely nothing seem to be the main focus. Romance here is perhaps the laziest addition of romance I have seen that I actually felt sorry for the main actors who were forced to partake in this overly forced and predictable farce.' The two leads are great separately but horrendous with each other as they try to make this nonsense romance work. Their attraction comes from nowhere and is then milked like a saharan camel. What is worse is we are given a second lead who only has eyes for the lead female. Yet, he goes completely ignored and rarely are his feelings acknowledged despite how blatant he is. It creates a cringe worthy affair that I personally fast forwarded. This is another case of we are putting the two leads together because such is the way of the korean drama not because of any chemistry on their part. If this show warrants any points, it's the friendships. You've got genuinely cute moments when it comes to the friendships fostered in this school and even the teachers. Unfortunately, a pile of very lazy clichés mean the plot is not only all over the place, but tedious, draggy and at times just downright boring. The show does provide humor in some parts that is so absolutely cringe worthy that I surprisingly loved. One character particularly spews dialogue constantly in English and the English is perfectly fine but so absolutely cringe worthy in terms of setting and I absolutely loved it. There are very much elements of satire in here. Unfortunately, the script is just so horrendously predictable and lazy that the plot completely marred any satirical aspects. My advice to Lee Hyun woo is boy, if you are not starving, for the sake of your career make better choices. Same with a good portion of the cast whom I just about downright teared and lit incense for their careers. Shin Hyun Joon, Lee Bum Soo, what happened? Are they both being chased by loan sharks? If you have a higher tolerance than I, you may finish this but probably on account of bromance and eye candy. Nothing else though. For me, it's absolutely unbearable. You have also been warned, there is a recurring OST that persistently assaults your ears at every opportune moment. Many loved this but for me, it was an annoyance by episode three. It was like Boys Over Flowers and that almost paradise. You don't even remember any other song because of this grand assault.
