This movie is about a teenage boy who is severely bullied by his classmates. He has no friends, only a girl who he has a crush on but doesn't have the courage to talk to. His own mom abuses him from time to time, as well. It's pretty bleak, to say the least! It's a good watch because you don't know where the poor kid is gonna end up, if he's going to learn to defend himself, or get justice in some way. I should know better than to watch these kinds of movies. They are too true to life, too depressing, and too damn frustrating! Ughh... but I guess it's important to remind you to always try to be the best version of yourself that you can.
This is definitely a slow burn. It's bleak, depressing, and just plain miserable, but it makes a huge point about how focused adults are on money, and how nothing else - not even human feelings - seems to matter.
This is a compilation of short films. The first one I skipped because it was stop-animation and I really don't like those [personal preference]. The second "Girl" was about a young teenage girl who became pregnant and her father is bringing her to get an abortion. It was very powerful and moving. The third film "Don't Step Out of the House" I have NO IDEA what it was about. Two kids are left on their own in an apartment when some dudes come in talking nonsense and being total creeps. I think they were aliens, maybe?? It made NO sense, but was entertaining because these dudes were completely unpredictable. The last one "Stakeout" is about a cop trying to stakeout undercover to catch a guy but he bumps into some old friends who don't know he's a cop and threaten to ruin his investigation. This was definitely slow at some points, but overall I liked it. Showed a raw perspective of war and some war crimes [nothing too explicit], and had a nice soundtrack.
This is such a great little movie, I'm so glad I came across it. I didn't know that Japan's legal system was so unfair like this?? Wow, hopefully they can change.
This movie is really great. I was going back and forth so many times feeling sorry for Chief Jung and hating him! Even though he did terrible things, in the end I still felt very sympathetic towards his character. The actor was just so good! Anyways, this is a great little back and forth, this one's on top now that one's on top, sort of movie. I really enjoyed it :)
