I think some people were so convinced that this was going to be a straight romance series or bromance, that now…
You're accusing us of "crusading" while waging a crusade against us

This isn't a competitive sport and you're not going to win prizes for being the "Ultimate Fanatic." Enjoy the adaptation and let others be

im ngl i didn't like the way the webtoon went at all hopefully this series is good enough
Adaptations are a risky business, and history has proven that they're often worse than their source materials. This one might or might not surprise us

Thank you! I'm honored and humbled by your compliments, my friend!

You’re okay with the second "couple" being "straight." Others don’t have to be

Right? Finding "straight" scenes in a gay story is as jarring, unnecessary, and unwanted as finding meat in a vegan meal. They don't belong there and ruin the experience

"I wouldn't trade The Untamed or The Spirealm for the changes they were forced to make"

That’s your (bad) personal choice. Some of us would like to see our favorite gay stories brought to life as they were intended. It's disrespectful to censor or change them to please a demographic that's not interested in them to begin with

"... and the only 'injustice' you have to suffer is that they added a straight couple on the side ..."

Do you hear yourselves? You’re admitting that gay stories aren't allowed to stand on their own. That’s a loss

I understand what you mean, personally I also wouldn't have a problem with the presence of a straight couple in…
"You're the SAME kinda problem people. lol"

Being "uncomfortable" with gay representation that hasn’t dominated mainstream media isn’t the same as being "uncomfortable" with and refusing the dominant "straight" narrative we’ve been spoon-fed forever. One is fighting for a fair share, the other is clinging onto an unfair monopoly

"Do the webtoon readers disagree?"

They/I do. We’re called "webtoon readers" and not "people who enjoy watching gay stories get straightwashed for mainstream approval"

"... there's the ff button or the drop option"

You want us to hit the "next" button on scenes that aren’t up our alley, but when it’s our comments that aren't up your alley, you can’t ignore them and look the other way. Hypocrisy much?

Please redirect your attention back to the adaptation and away from our negative comments

They replaced the 2nd gay couple with a straight couple that wasn't together in the manhwa is all
It's sad and not a move in the right direction

The second gay couple had their place in the story, or there wouldn't be a second season

Adhering to timelines isn't an excuse to exclude them or set Chan Yeong up with Ji Yu and ruin their friendship

I understand that you wouldn't want the change

Personally, I would want the changes that expand on and improve the central gay storylines. The adaptation had the perfect chance to let the second gay lovebirds chug along and offer Hee Su a helping hand (or a friendly shove) on his journey. Seeing another gay couple from his class living their best lives would be a wake-up call

do you hear yourself? why would you want a BL with a 47 & 17 year old
The BL/gay angle would bring a unique dynamic to the story

Copy-pasting my comment:

It’s not a conventional romance between a 47-year-old and a 17-year-old. The 47-year-old's soul is stuck in a teenage body. He's exploring the disconnect between his mind and body, trying to reconcile his experienced inner self with his youthful, inexperienced outward appearance

This kind of internal conflict would create a complex, thoughtful romance that invites us to reconsider how we define love and maturity in relationships

I think it's definitely disrespectful for an original gay only Manhwa to be adapted differently with straight…
"But if there's nothing we can do about it, let's learn to cope and move on accordingly"

I had no intention of returning to this page, but I predicted that some fans would respond negatively to our honest opinions about the adaptation

I checked the page today, and I saw that my prediction was correct. They were making derogatory comments, calling us "stupid," "dramatic," "delusional," or worse

They didn't move on/past it. They didn't and don't understand not everyone will be a fan of the changes in the adaptation. We're stuck in an endless cycle of negativity, because they don't understand

You're contradicting yourselves. You resonate with the theme of unrequited feelings and longings for someone you can't have. Then you defend a story that doesn’t leave things unrequited. The "straight" identifying character becomes involved in a relationship with a female character, undermining the emotional weight of unrequited feelings

The story would've been more painful and powerful for you if the "straight" identifying male character and the gay male character struggled with unrequited feelings, and neither found resolution in a relationship

"... in a world full of tacky BLs, this is the **supermoon** that rarely shows up"

A "supermoon" would place creative integrity above commercial interests and societal expectations, refusing to dilute its story with a "straight" storyline to advance a gay storyline. Many of the so-called "tacky BLs" are superior by staying true to their gay essence

"Despite all the nonsense hatred that surrounds this drama"

Your love for the drama is as nonsensical

Gay people - which I am one of btw - and bl fans are never pleased. We finally have an actually high budget, good…
"Also, at least they kept the BL couple in the series and kept them as the primary focus"

In the genre made to center them? How generous of the homophobic production team to do the bare minimum. Next, we’ll be applauding a bakery for selling bread

"Now we don't have to agree with them doing that"

I don't agree with them changing the secondary gay couple to a "straight" one. But I never said I won't give the adaptation a chance. I watched the first two episodes

"Wish you people would have kept this energy directed at those homophobic dramas - the most recent one of which is sitting at a 8.6 rating btw"

Why do you assume we didn't keep the same energy elsewhere? I can be disappointed in multiple things at once

There's erasure, and "straight" stories aren't known for staying in their lane. They'll be the second main focus of the drama

"... they barely got screentime"

Are we allowed to criticize something after it’s derailed the story? Do you wait for a house to burn down before calling the fire department?

A storyline might not ruin everything in episode one or two, it eases into it

"... the girl was the lead"

She's one of the main leads
