Art is defined as a form of creative expression intended to evoke emotions or convey ideas. Porn can be seen as a form of creative expression intended to evoke and arouse certain emotions. It's the most raw form of art

Right, and whether the movie is considered "soft porn" or not is irrelevant to the quality or artistic merit of the movie

Any "sexual" content is designed for the titillation or gratification of the audience. Nudity isn't the only form of "sexual" content. Without nudity, "The Glory" scenes in which women were shown grinding against or riding men were sexualized and designed to evoke arousal (4:08 of episode 2, a woman riding a man, eye bleach highly recommended, 26:48 of episode 2, a woman suggestively touching a man, I stopped watching)

"They were minir short"

Long or short, "porn is porn." A large number of people even referred to the scenes in "The Glory" as "hot," so stop deluding yourselves already. Your favorite "straight" drama was created for the "straight" porn market

The Glory's "sexual" scenes were so unnecessary and unpleasant that I stopped watching the drama altogether. That's right, we can't make a meaningful comparison between The Handmaiden's artistically crafted sexual scenes and The Glory's unpleasant ones that belong in the trash

Someone's acting prowess shouldn't be defined by the number of lead roles they've had. It should be defined by the effort that goes into every performance. Seo Ham breathed life into his character in "Semantic Error." His performance and on-screen chemistry with Jae Chan ignited the screen. I was left breathless with anticipation as the story unfolded. Some of us revisit the drama, reliving each tender moment, each stolen glance, each smoldering embrace. "Semantic Error" is an enemies-to-lovers BL that stands the test of time

If anything, I wish to see Seo Ham and Jae Chan headline more BLs/"have more BLs on their names"

BL shippers are as valid in their love and support for their pairings as any other fan group. Their love isn't craziness

Well said, sex is a natural, essential part of human relationships, and its depiction in GL/lesbian or BL/gay media is necessary to normalize and humanize same-sex relationships. These scenes demonstrate that intimacy and desire aren't exclusive to straight relationships. They should be seen as an affirmation of gay love, not porn or a source of cheap thrills

What's the obsession with our "obsession" with GL(/BL)?

Do you apply the same classification to straight "sex" scenes? Straight movies and dramas would fall into the category of either softcore or hardcore porn. Even "kissing" shares similarities with porn, it's included to excite the audience. It might not fit the strict definition of porn, but the "kisses" between a girl and a boy, a woman and a man, are sexualization and fan service

You gave "The Glory," a drama that contained unnecessary "sex/softcore porn," a high rating (9.5). If you're critical of sex scenes in lesbian or gay media, apply the same standards to straight media. Be consistent and fair in your judgments of media content

"47 x 17 is a crime for a reason"

The legal age of consent is lower than 18 in some countries, Korea's is 16 without restrictions, which means it's probably permissible for a 17-year-old to engage in a relationship with a 47-year-old. But law isn't morality, and these relationships should be approached with caution. We can agree on that

"If there absolutely Must be a romance, then I’d be far more comfortable after the younger character was 25+"

Another thing we can agree on! A relationship between a 25+-year-old Se Kyung and Yi Heon would address your concerns, it'd be a more balanced and healthier relationship, and it'd satisfy the desire for romance in the story

The relationship wouldn't be "innocent," I claimed it wouldn't be as problematic as a relationship between a 47-year-old and a teenager in the traditional sense

The respect the soul earns from its past life connections doesn't imply that it holds power or authority over teenagers

The soul's experience and wisdom could be used responsibly to benefit teenagers in their lives and relationships. It was demonstrated with the troubled boys, Yi Heon's soul was able to provide guidance and support without exploiting its position or power. In a hypothetical relationship with Se Kyung, it could've taken that approach, addressing any potential power imbalances and working towards a healthy, respectful dynamic. Why would it use its past life to manipulate or harm its partner?

With Se Kyung aware of Yi Heon's soul's past identity, there was an opportunity for open communication and understanding, rather than secrecy and manipulation

The concern about replacing ages is understandable. It'd be creepy with a 9-year-old or a 5-year-old. And we should consider the maturity differences, but the characters here were in their late teens. Their maturity levels, while not the same as Yi Heon's soul's, aren't as vastly different as in the scenarios you presented with 9-year-olds or 5-year-olds

You came here alone to yap is enough to prove that this STRAIGHT drama make a decent noise that had the bl community…
@HuhaHeji belittled "Love for Love's Sake" and its production team for the alleged non-payment of appearance fees by the casting director. Now, a year after wrapping production, "Highschool Return of a Gangster" is embroiled in a similar controversy with 119 actors yet to receive appearance fees from the producer, N°3 PICTURES. Archive links: https://archive.is/aRhOM, https://archive.is/u63TW

From the Korean article, "N°3 PICTURES, the production company behind "Highschool Return of a Gangster" and "Spirit Fingers," hasn't paid appearance fees to a total of 119 actors. It's been confirmed that unpaid fees amount to approximately 90 million won ($65,100 USD) for Highschool Return of a Gangster and approximately 220 million won ($159,500 USD) for Spirit Fingers"

Isn't it ironic?

This is a reminder that we shouldn't hastily judge "Love for Love's Sake" or its production team. We should reserve judgment until all facts are known. Unforeseen issues can arise in any project

It wouldn't have been a relationship between a 47-year-old and a teenager, it would've been a relationship between a 47-year-old's soul in a teenager's body and another teenager. The adult person's soul in the teenager's body wouldn't be an authority figure or in a position of power over the other teenager. Physically, it's a teenager. It'd be different, and not as creepy or toxic as the scenario you're describing

Censoring something that you believe is toxic or problematic is sometimes more toxic or problematic than the thing you're censoring. And if the BL storyline was super short, you could've skipped it and let other people enjoy it ... so ...
