That literally happens all the time. Sandman, dead boy detectives, the flash, basically any DC shows you can think…
It's time for some sweet, sweet revenge
Starting with "Lovely Runner," we should flip the script and give straight stories the gay or "just friends" treatment. The same people who told us to calm down and not care that gay stories were turned into "bromances" will have a meltdown
"If you want to watch a BL drama... there are toooons of them"
You don't care about a missing sock if you have a drawer full of them? Censoring a BL/gay story takes away one of the matching socks. It bugs some of us, for valid reasons
Censoring BL/gay works can't go unchallenged, it opens the door for other BL/gay stories to be censored as well. The potential profits from catering to wider homophobic audiences will drive producers to censor more BL/gay works
They took a gay story and neutered it so that the people who don't like gay stories could watch it. It's like making a scary movie/drama with no scares, or a comedy with no jokes. Their goal was to appeal to everyone and noone at the same time
The entertainment industry is churning out generic, flavorless slop that everyone can swallow without real thought or feeling. It's unfortunate that bland and boring is what sells in society
@reen must be feeling tough, throwing around insults like that ...
I have no.issues if is bromance. As long is good and not a bad series i will watch it. I liked his co partner…
I don't mind "bromance," but there's something special about gay romance that can't be matched by bromance. Romance goes beyond being friends. A man would get to trust another man not just with his thoughts and feelings, but also with his body. They'd commit to each other potentially for the rest of their lives. Bromance/just friendship doesn't have the same depth and longevity as gay romance
"But its still not illegal or pedophilia"It's not pedophilia. Despite the perceived age difference between Yi…
That's the problem, censorship didn't give the story a chance to unfold
Censorship deprived us of the opportunity to see the potential growth and development of new Yi Heon (the one with an old soul inside him) and Se Kyung's relationship. The people who hastily call it predatory are basing their judgment on speculation and limited information. They didn't see the full story
Then it is my right express my opinion and btw I'm talk about the ones who are saying nasty things about the show…
The censorship was unfounded. The "age" dynamic was a non-issue since it involved the soul of a middle-aged man and not a middle-aged man. Souls don't have a fixed age
If the producers found the premise problematic, they could've changed the "soul ages" or had Yi Heon's soul return to his body. The real reason for this censorship is homophobia in the audience and a desire for profits
It's inappropriate to label those with differing opinions as "toxic" or "delulu." You insist on insulting us, it's only fair that we are able to voice our dissatisfaction with the producers or "say nasty things about them"
"As long as it is not hurting anyone in shape or form"
The relationship between Deuk Pal/Yi Heon and Se Kyung was fictional and didn't hurt anyone. Advocating for or celebrating its censorship dictates "what writers should write." The writers and producers bowed to the demands of entitled audiences' unwillingness to explore the controversial themes of body possession and identity in a relationship. You're no better than the people you label "toxic"
It's not often we see people asking themselves tough questions like that. Kudos to you The most groundbreaking,…
"... as he decided not to return to his body and die"
Censoring gay content is never okay or good. Stories that address the struggles of gay people might not have happy endings, but they can move people to compassion and understanding towards their gay peers. People would see the consequences of homophobic bullying, that it ruins and takes gay people's lives. The trauma inflicted by it will leave an imprint forever, and the gay person might decide to end it. This brutal reality should be shared and acknowledged, not censored
They are 17 if I am not wrong, it's 19 in Korean age. I think. I mean, BL wouldn't make sense with the story in…
"... especially as the gangster stayed in the body at the end"
The BL or its ending could've been reworked to address that issue

I haven't seen such a toxic comment section in a while. There are some people who are hanged up on relationship…
"But its still not illegal or pedophilia"
It's not pedophilia. Despite the perceived age difference between Yi Heon and Se Kyung's souls, their physical ages are above 16, the age of consent in Korea. They could legally consent to a relationship
The producers could've eliminated any concerns about a predatory relationship by adjusting the "soul ages" of Yi Heon and Se Kyung or by creating an alternate ending in which Yi Heon's soul returns to his original body. Then there would've been a non-predatory romance between the original Yi Heon and Se Kyung
Someone sounds bitter that some BL fans have standards and won't stand for censorshipI thought you've "already…
I can see that the drama was well-received by many and that ratings were high. I didn't suggest that you shouldn't enjoy it, I was just engaging in a conversation about it
I doubt that.A- there's homophobes who would've complainedB- there's the folks who are complaining about the mental…
Both male characters were teenagers in physical age, but due to one of them carrying within him the soul of a person who had been physically older, people discussed "age gaps." The gap wasn't one of physical age, it was of "soul age"
It's a combination of societal homophobia and producers' fear of backlashThe "barely there" gay content could've…
"The fact that Yi Heon and Se Kyung remained friends despite objection from the latter's father is a key reason that had this been a BL drama, one of the takeaways could have been their love triumphed over all the adversities they faced and that would have been something to celebrate"
That's a great observation. The message of love triumphing over prejudice would've been inspiring or encouraging to anyone who's faced similar struggles. It's a shame that we didn't get to see it
Here's something that's been perplexing me: why does the industry incessantly claim they won't produce content…
It's not often we see people asking themselves tough questions like that. Kudos to you
The most groundbreaking, impactful works of art aren't the ones that were expected to be commercial hits. Producers shouldn't make decisions based on what they believe will sell, they should make decisions based on what they believe in and are passionate about

And if turning "straight" characters gay "happens all the time," it shouldn't be a big deal to do it again with a straight novel

They are expressing their opinions and making their voices heard in a manner that they feel is appropriate. That's their right and should be respected
