This drama had possibly the best cinematography EVER and the OST was absolutely flawless. It's an absolute masterpiece. The singular flaw was some of the writing/plot points but that's getting nitpicky...... as far as acting performance, direction, musical composer, pacing, etc from beginning to end this was just everything. And personally I loved the first 10 episodes. I would watch literally anything if it was the same production team and composer. Yang Mi & Mark Chao were incredible.
Do the sisters ever stop acting like 5 year olds with the faces and tongues sticking out because it's cute for like 5 minutes but ridiculous when they are 20 years old.
I'm watching this after just finishing Eternal Love TMOPB and I'm struggling so hard. This feels so shallow and childish compared to Eternal Love. I feel like I'm watching a Youth Drama. Sifeng is the only thing keeping me in this so far as of episode 6. Should I drop? Does it get more mature? Deeper? The FL and her sister/sister bf are killing me
Can someone tell me the airing release schedule for this? What days does it release episodes? I've watched the first 14 and am slowly dying waiting for more eps!
This is super underrated for incredible pacing, sweet adorable fluffiness, no characters or storylines you hate and have to waste toxic energy on, beautiful scenery and music. I extremely wish I had a Dragon Husband!!!! If you like fluffy romance this is it. Forget the ratings and reviews and watch it!
This drama is the perfect blend of everything I want. Sweetness, beauty, comedy, action, incredible set design, perfect music. And for me, I LOVE Xu Kai's performance. He has to play a stoic character and he has to limit hit range in order to be stoic but even within that limited range you know exactly what he feels. It's a similar vibe to Princess Agents in the way that he must balance love & duty.
Completely agree with you on everything. I've been waiting for an explanation on the second lead - like who did…
I debated whether to look at the previews but decided not to so I hope you are right! And I hope they clarify and work through the love triangle in a way that make more sense to the viewer. Overall though I really am enjoying this show and I hope we get more of this quality!
This story is waaay cute but so unrealistic. If you won a Grammy and you're that BIG, I don't think you'd be doing…
You can win a Grammy and still do university gigs. I'm not saying the show is realistic but I know people who do lots of small shows & promo's despite winning awards.
The Creepy uncle/brother/manager/agent is really badly done and it's a shame because if you've seen the actor in other drama's he is HOT AF. They could have written his character so much better instead of giving us creepy. And he IS creepy here. And the way she lets him run her is weird. There storyline is my only real gripe with the show.
I'm only a little more than halfway through but here are my thoughts:
Pros: A mature romance! I am desperate for more realistic/more adult romance drama's from China. Even though the ML is in College he is very mature and you don't feel like he is a student. He feels like a graduate and the romance is not a classic "school romance"
Cinematography: Absolutely beautiful. On Par with modern Kdrama's. The director & editor are wonderful.
Costume Design/Wardrobe: I love how they use the ML & FL to mirror each other and match/complement each other in these subtle ways. The set designs for the apartments are unique and well done. It's modern, fresh and doesn't feel low budget or like what you always see. Beautiful aesthetic.
Music: The music is wonderful
Cons: Plot: the plot is very very simplistic, as of episode 18 there isn't enough depth for me in the main leads characters. The FL makes choices that annoy me with regards to the "best-friend/second lead/love triangle older guy" where she is letting him run her life but it just feels weird & semi creepy because nothing between them has been established. She's behaving like they are in a relationship or like he is her father/older brother but he is neither so it comes across not making sense. It also feels a bit like they've tried to copy some Kdrama's where there is an older male who has feelings for the lead female and wants to care for/protect her/be with her but it is unrequited. I don't mind this at all usually but it's not done well in Love Scenery.
Overall: I want there to be more Cdrama's of this quality re: Direction/Production/Cinematography/OST/Mature Characters/Good Acting but they need to work on their plots & character developments which are so often just lacking depth and development of the characters. But this is on the right path!
Do you understand chinese? Try with earphone next time
I've watched probably 50 Cdrama's in my life and this has never been an issue before so it has nothing to do with the language or needing earphones. The music in the first 3 episodes especially is not mixed correctly by the sound engineer and is too loud while the dialogue is too low in comparison. The music is also used too much during all scenes which doesn't allow the viewer to really get into the plot & characters. It is the fault of the sound engineer & the director. Has nothing to do with understanding Chinese or wearing earphones.
I LOVE THE MUSIC, however............ I gotta agree a little here. I watched without watching...... I enjoyed…
It's really weird right??!!! They have gorgeous actors, gorgeous sets, gorgeous costumes and horrible editing. They really tried to much to go Dance of Sky Empire/Once Upon a time in Linjing with Xu Kai and the music the first 3 episodes. I was on my phone doing laundry and barely felt like paying attention. Episode 4 seems to be starting a little better. But the direction & editing are NOT on par with Yanxii so far at all. Let's pray it improves!
It's a 10 for me so far.
