Agree! No miscasting in this drama and each actor brings the novel character alive in a satisfying and impressive way. Cristy Guo does seem very gentle in real life. I wonder if she has a double role?

Right! they chose the best actress then! Since when did ANY cross-dressing girl in a C-drama look like a boy? This is hardly a in-depth criticism is it?
You don't believe she could dictate to veteran military generals? It says she's a MILITARY STRATEGIST in the SYNOPSIS at the top of the page so you knew about it before you started watching! But then you don't believe a woman can be as intellectually capable as a man either?

Watching 13 episodes out of 49 bored you so much then why waste your time writing a SUPERFICIAL and FLAT review! You must have loads of time to kill because I never write a review for a drama I've dropped! Intelligent people will make up their own minds about any drama.
The drama is nearing it's 1st anniversary and it exploded overseas and did well in China; it's gained awards too and may gain some more. (Photos of awards at top of page) Look at the number of comments and discussions for the drama which are in the top 6 on MDL. Many people are still watching all over the world and enjoying it without your help.

I was shocked when I read this in the novel too. I thought that it could affect viewers and give them ammo to level against the drama like Li Shi Min's character in the TLB. That was unpatriotic or whatever and ppl objected but this would be patricide and the most heinous act possible for a man to commit; I feared the backlash!

I'm sure she would have consulted a doctor or dietician beforehand and she doesn't look too bad yet in TBW; maybe later she'll look worse but make up will have been used too. I bet her mum gave her a hard time too at the time!
The relationship hasn't got to the love stage yet and she is just doing the job; in previous episodes it shows how she tames the demons with persuasion and a little manipulation. In the novel it happened quickly but there is a build up to that stage in the drama. You watched the 1st episode and saw how she is tortured? There will be more background story about her which will show just how much of a prisoner she is too in Flower Valley. (Have you read the novel? I would recommend it! ) However, soon she will have twinges of conscience and begin to change.
