1. In E5&E6, the CGI is really good. We now know why they spent so much time in the post production.2. The drama…
Yes, I watched all of the eps raw and guessed what was going on. You are right, ep 6 it's about to turn serious. I think Director Chu sets a fast pace like he did in TLB too, I like that.
All the trailers and OST's are fantastic and any doubts about the chemistry between DB and RJL have just melted away after watching them. So impressed with RJL's Chang Yi; his transformation from the guileless merman to the hardened Lord of the North has made a new fan. Then you have Dilraba who becomes Ji Yun He in her inimitable style, so distinct and unique. The supporting cast are really interesting and likeable too. I am really being patient for this drama to air but it's not helping coming back to this page for updates because everyone's excitement is contagious. (It was there anyway but it's gone up several notches)
To start, let me celebrate with a virtual fist pump after learning the news of the airing date! Just two more…
Great points made as usual. I'm agree they have nailed the darkness of the novel and I am extremely happy about the beautiful costumes and background and music.
Thanks! I saw this when you posted about the TBW issue yesterday. She looks the part and so gorgeous. They have…
I think you are right about the difference between SK and Chinese society being the reason. But from the testimonials of foreigners living in both these countries, I would prefer China. I was a HK film fan and did watch many martial arts dramas with my brothers. I've not watched any HK dramas either for a couple of years now.
Happy valley is anything but! I think it's supposed to be irony because there's only misery for the main protagonist for many episodes until she brings down the villain. It's set in a valley in Northern England. Wiki has a good synopsis. Season 1 has been on Netflix but not anymore. ( BBC iplayer has it, did you manage to get the app?) There's a couple of trailers on YT to give you an idea of style; if you are interested, some of the street scenes are close to where I live!

Koreans must enjoy legal dramas a lot? Even in the UK there have been a limited number of legal dramas but you only have to turn a stone and there is a police drama! More are coming out too. There's a really gritty, violent one set in my home town called 'Happy Valley' - yes, irony intended.

Legal dramas are such a fascinating genre and it's a shame more are not available from China. I'd certainly watch them over rom-coms any day. I think this drama will attract more university students because of the plot so there will be a younger audience this time. The script is good and the actors are good so we have the ingredients for a high rate drama which may encourage other producers too. I'm totally off Korean dramas at the moment although I know which ones you are talking about.

I did worry about her being bullied/belittled too by seniors but they look too professional for that I hope. Plus Reba is so respectful with other stars both younger and senior. The people squeezing her are probably some bigwigs and not actors! It made me laugh that they are so proud to pose with the crew that they become oblivious to everything. The plot is based on a true story which must have been quite sensational when it became public so a dramatisation of it would draw great interest too. I hope the plot doesn't become too much like a fly on the wall documentary. ( I'll have to quickly watch a few episodes of CC and see why it was so popular)
Wow! I agree with the shivers and the trailer looks epic! They've changed the story a bit though.
In the trailer A'Ji gets zapped by Lin Cang Lan in the wheelchair? That fellow is killed in part 1 and she doesn't become A'Ji til part 2. Unless its just for the trailer then it's ok otherwise the story is different from the novel. There seem to be other changes too but it looks much better than trailer no 1. No glimpse of the Fish tail though!

I am counting two parts of TBW or is it only one now? I I am going to believe the Oct air date for now, we'll see nearer the time if it is true or not. They've got a lot of help on hand to make the filming go smoothly like real lawyers to consult with and from clips of Reba's booting ceremony interview, it seems she has done a lot of background prep. From the images so far, Reba's clothes and make-up are simple and minimal so little time will be taken with that aspect. Chengdu will provide the backgrounds and props. It feels like I might get my gritty realism if not the airing date. Crime Crackdown did really well and I hope this drama surpasses that even. This story sounds pretty good with many gripping, 'front page' elements.
Only one drama next year or none will be hard to take but she might take a break next year? She'll do that at some point after she turns 30. (She's going to have another birthday on set!) We'll just have to find other stuff to watch. (The prospect of that is unappealing but I tell myself the girl has to live her life too)
