I've heard about Scarlet Heart and it goes in my list. I'm surprised you have still to watch Joy Of Life and Ming Lan. Both are excellent as you've heard.

I think I prefer Liu Ye too though I haven't watched Lay in anything. I don't need romance but strong memorable acting and gritty realism.

I see, so the actors were playing their younger selves then their normal ages. There's always the chance of missing out on good dramas because you've decided you don't like it in the initial episodes. I will have to work on that attitude.
Most periods in history are fascinating to watch if they are accurately portrayed but you don't have to admire everything about them. Attitudes towards women throughout the ages are always subject to intense debate. Is there a Qing drama about the ordinary woman on the street and not the royal harem?

Indeed, the Qing era would be anathema for Changge! She might just become a rebel and lead an uprising against the establishment due to frustration! With her genius she could be nothing but a leader. 7th Century Tang seems to be more progressive than 19th Century Qing! It would be amazing to have Changge appear in the Qing court! Agree that's a great idea for a possible script if it were possible.

We've said before how restrictive is the scope of scriptwriters in China and how fettered their imagination by external powers. I will keep hoping that one day a new drama is going to break all the barriers and open the floodgates to new ideas! I thought that Joy Of Life was something of breakthrough in that respect, shame there's no more seasons yet or similar concept scripts.

He's popping up wherever Reba is, probably just rumours because of them being linked in that variety show a while back. That's what I'm saying, that he can't be possible for this drama because he is rumoured for the one with Yang Zi.
I wish this pairing off with Reba stops too, it's not interesting or fresh.

Hi! Yes, I saw this too and was surprised but I think it is just a rumour I hope as the story is not that good according to some who have read it and the synopsis does not look interesting on the MDL page. Have you checked that page?
Gu Man wrote this novel 10 yrs ago but didn't finish it. Someone also said top actors won't be taking the roles, only new actors will go for it.

It should be someone she hasn't collab'ed with and I'm not bothered about romance but will be happy with them just harbouring feelings for each other from afar because one is committed elsewhere.

Same here! I dropped it after watching almost as many episodes too because they simply failed to convince me of their romance. She couldn't put her head on his shoulder anyway, more like his armpit. Lol! ( No offence to their fans) Yes, you'll get many more suggestions! Happy viewing!

You watch whatever you like and enjoy, no criticism intended.
Don't remember spoilt brats in it, but Love Designer has an obsessive woman chasing the ML; she doesn't have a chance but there's a draggy 2nd romance which took away from the leads! (sorry to their fans)
The other two dramas and one film I mention are watchable and have some fun scenes.
Regarding ancient dramas, The Long Ballad is not about cultivation though it is historical and there's some cool grassland costumes and scenes in it. You might even fall in love with Wu Lei LOL! You dropped Head on your Shoulder and I did too! But the youth dramas I really liked.

Have you watched other Dilraba dramas like Sweet Dreams, Love Designer and Pretty Li Hui Zhen? All are quite entertaining to watch but a bit long winded. She also has a film called Mr Pride and Miss Prejudice which is quite hilarious. You like modern dramas only it seems. Youth Dramas like Just An Encore and Wait, My Youth are good too.

The gaming is about to end and the real romance will start Ep 21 I think. Just hold on for a little longer and you can fast forward the bits about Aerospace but they are about Yu Tu only.
