The more senior actresses in the cast have been in the business for a lot longer than Reba but they all got the chance somewhere and gained recognition. Hopefully this is Reba's chance too since Ball Lightening didn't take off for many reasons and if the rumour about higher salary and ironing out script 'bugs' is true.
I like to think that Reba is preparing for the next phase of her life and doing a mega life restructure beforehand. Buying the house means she's settling down in one place.; maybe marriage is on the cards and these things take time.

I can see how veteran Chinese actors would draw the crowds and as an uninformed overseas viewer, I hope I don't offend anyone with my views. I haven't watched CC either but it's in my list to watch.

I watched a video which very much echoed your opinion. But also specifically mentioned about C-netizens objecting to her not being capable for the role and starting hate campaigns. If the role has gone then it's a lot of noise about nothing.
Crime crackdown had Lay in it and it got massive views otherwise I don't think it would have surpassed YAMG; what do you think? On the same principle using Reba will definitely increase the popularity of Prosecutors and it's not as if she isn't capable of the role. She has a proper qualified acting background unlike Lay, though he did well in CC.

You are absolutely right but the Qing hairstyle was a form of punishment against rebels (who grew their hair at the front of the head ) and was enforced as a form of loyalty. It seems a bit contradictory when not cutting your hair was considered filial. (No offence to anyone about this info as I got it from several websites.) But really, it was not flattering when you consider hair is called the 'crowning glory. However, I will happily watch a good Qing drama and not be bothered about the hairstyle. 18th C English men and women shaved off their hair because of head lice and wore wigs instead! There is a reason behind every hair fashion and while understanding it, you don't always like it.
