Wow! There must be some huge Chinese drama fans in that UAE TV network. I noticed a lot of Arabic comments in Dilraba's dramas; I wonder if she is the main draw?

Absolutely, other stars are taking new projects and I want Reba to earmark some good ones too. As you say her agency has had months to look and decide, so what's afoot? I'm amused at myself because I can't help feeling a sense of urgency on her behalf.

I know and I'd be the last one to begrudge her a little R n R. I hope there's some exciting news soon to raise our spirits and ensure there's more of her dramas/films for 2023! I couldn't cope with a year without Dilraba's new works.

Agree with you. Li ChangGe found her purpose and it wasn't to sit by and not act or go with the flow of nature! She is a catalyst and interfering in the scheme of events is how she makes sense of everything and finds her purpose in life. Thanks for the links. I wondered about Islam in China and Li Shi Min was alive at the same time as the the Prophet of Islam! I think 7th C China was quite interesting indeed. Wu Zetian sounds fascinating! I hope there's a drama about her somewhere.

Bless you! I was hoping you would tell me more! I'm fascinated by the fact that there were Persian astrologers in the Tang court in the 9th century and beyond. I found a thesis written by someone and I might download it to have a read maybe.

Li Chunfeng the royal astrologer predicts the fire in Luoyang in Ep 30, he even throws in a bit of 'rune' magic with the Go pieces predicting success after failure; he also predicts a new monarch in ep 2 and the Xuanwu Gate incident occurs. Chunfeng tells Du Ru Hui that he will not live for more than a year. This adds a supernatural element to this drama but how common was it to consult such sources for future prediction in the Tang era? Is Li Shi Min an unusual monarch who resorts to this practice? ( Or did the scriptwriters use a bit of artistic licence?)
A quick research reveals that various systems of foreign astrology, originating in India, Iran and the Hellenistic world, played a significant, albeit hitherto largely unrecognized role, in the development of Buddhism during the Tang dynasty. So, not so uncommon yet but not so popular either until a couple of centuries later in the latter part of Tang rule. Sounds fascinating and worthy of further study.

Yup! Noticing all the other characters that I didn't particularly focus on before; TLB has some great actors.

I love Reba in ELOD and TLB more than in her modern dramas. She always tops the Weibo and other hot searches.

I don't know anything about view counts and they don't take overseas viewing into consideration but I'm just saying that I prefer Reba's acting as well.
