I think people just see it as cute, teen drama romance thing. nothing more, nothing less. it's quite cute to watch kids being stupid in love on screen. and Haeyi's reaction was more shy and embarassed tbh, maybe mildy annoyed rather than uncomfortable or angry. Haeyi is an assertive, mature character. I think she would've let him know outright if he had crossed a line and she was angry at him. Take that scene where geon hu stole her food haha, her reaction was instant. I think she would have reacted appropriately if she really hated the confession.
that first ep was not it. had half a mind to drop it with the whole saviour thing and yellow filter nonsense. wish that wasn't shown at all. the leads have good chemistry in the second ep.

He even posted about the show when it started airing. The rest of what you said is true about wasting time and their obsessiveness and everything. But education is an industry of millions in SK and many other Asian countries. There are "tiger moms" shown exactly like in the show. Those who will use their power and influence, and go any extent for their kids. I come from an Asian country, where those rich and poweful will be able to secure top seats at top universities at the expense of those less fortunate - just like the mom of the mean kid who died. Will it be exaggerated for the sake of drama? Yes, ofcourse. But the underlying plot and themes aren't too far from the truth.

that rumour was baseless and didn't hold because it was posted by a known troll & hater id (the now deceased teacher). on the other hand, the scandal was spread by a popular and trusted influencer (as they call them) Sua's mom, on a parental social media. clearly there is a difference, and contrived cctv footage as evidence. but yeah, goes on to show their inherent bias.

haeyi knows. she knew how much NHS struggled in life, to take care of her & Jaewoo, and gave up everything for them. that's why she had never rebelled or even asked for a private tuition(until ep1), or even chocolates ( ref in ep2) or anything more because she didn't even want to put any extra burden on her mom/aunt. even with CCY, she was blaming herself as the reason for whatever happened. but she has that trauma from being known as an abandoned child from the past, so this is also her personal journey to move on and grow.
Also I don't think it's about her accepting NHS as her mom or not. She deliberately calls her aunt to put some kind of distance, beause she feels guilty that all of NHS's problems comes from being her eomma. She had to give up her career for haeyi, and now almost CCY too. Too much self blaming there for a kid to handle.
