Trending globally on top 2 with 8 million average, feels like this flopped, I don't think this will get renewed…
huh isn't 8 million views really good for week 2?

uh no scripts are usually sent to the actress's agency for them to read through and select if they like it. But in this case, I'm pretty sure CEO Ahn is also co-producing the movie. Remember that earlier scene where Inuk met up with her to pitch the proposition

they were in the casting process for the film. subin talks about that over the call with inuk in some part of the ep. naturally, the script would be sent to one of the popular actresses - hana in this case. her mom is her label owner so she would receive it.

Idk I find it refreshing. It reminds me of indie movies where the storytelling isn't always polished and straightforward,…
ykw i agree with you after ep6. feel like i finally get the writer's vision. i really enjoyed ep6.. it looks like the 3 stories would soon merge. the directing style that previously annoyed me made complete sense to me this ep too. it's a really really good drama with excellent character focus and innovative storytelling.

They were supposed to be working as a team since this is her first project as a director, dividing at the first…
that's exactly what subin realises at the end of the episode when he sees her running that there's no reason to pity or protect yijae. that she is no longer just his first love, and they have to "break up" and move past it to have any growth as adults.

i loved this episode. it's super realistic to me. all of it, including the leads' actions, the dialogues (amazing!),…
And regarding Subin's character and behaviour, it never came across to me that he was being a jerk. The camera kept panning to his face, looking uncomfortable and worried each time Yijae was put in an awkward situation with her peers. (Again, that whole situation and the conversations..including the condescending behaviour from the seniors were highly realistic. Having had one too many similar experiences in real life, it genuinely hurt me lol.) And I'm glad he didn't swoop in like the typical kdrama male lead to save the day and her from it. Those meetings and team dinners are neither the place nor time to show their friendship and closeness because that would only cause her to lose more respect among the crew and make her position seem unearned. This is Yijae's fight, and she has to be the one to fight it and win them over.

Moreover, Subin confronted the assistant the next day. The expectation for Subin to fire them is baseless; he is just the director, and the production company is not going to fire a crew member for a newbie director. Yijae doesn't need Subin to rescue her. This is her own battle to fight, and she is already a very strong, capable woman.

Subin's only obvious fault, imo, was his overprotectiveness of Yijae, which held her back—something he finally realised by the end of the episode. She doesn't need him to protect her; she has been strong all along and now just needs his help to keep running forward. His love, regret, and guilt drove him to protect her in ways that clearly held her back.

The first love breakup is a wonderful ending to the episode, as well as to the first half of the series for me. Now they can let go of their past regrets, start over, and learn about each other as the adults they are today.

Title Dream to You Spoiler
I think it's the placement of the scenes. Like we'll have a large block of time devoted to one couple, then another…
That's exactly it. They are piecing together three different stories but with hardly any narrative depth or intersection. I have a feeling the script might have been written for 16 episodes initially but got cut down due to recent trends. But again, that's where good editing comes into the picture. Currently, it feels like the drama shoehorns the main leads' arc into the beginning and end of an episode, while dedicating the rest of the runtime to the subplots. They could have better interspersed the scenes, imo, so the ep would have flowed more smoothly.

I think the drama started off strong, with really good emotional beats during the main leads' high school era and bonding. Episode 5 feels like a far cry from that. I don't know what happened suddenly, because although they rushed the leads' resolution arc in episode 3, the last two episodes still maintained some balance. Anyway I'll still wait for tonight's eps before making any more judgements. The writer seems to do better in the even numbered eps.

And the worst dad of the year award goes to Woo Soo Bin's dad. He should be put in a mental asylum.

the editing of ep5 feels very choppy. the directing/editing is rather jarring, almost like multiple genre switches in a single ep. stick with the romance really, and we need to spend more time with the leads and have them talk over their feelings. the first two eps captured their bond really well.

side couples work well when they are knitted into the main leads story, not when the writer is heavy handed with them (or maybe it's the placement of their scenes in an episode) while dragging down the main story.

totally agree with you..It also felt there’s a gap between the writer and the director..The writer wanted to…
100% this. there's definitely a clash with their respective visions. the actual directing seems quite experimental and makes me feel like we keep switching genres.

Like ending the kiss scene/episode with a shot of their script, with the '...and they kissed' scenario that they wrote? Come on, if that ain't peak romance!

wasn't it the final scene from ep3? where she admits to subin her regret is herself and not him? i feel like that made pretty significant progress for their relationship. but also, seeing how she pulled away from the kiss, maybe the walls aren't all broken down yet.
