Waiting for a review written by somebody who watched this at normal speed to know if I should bother. Honestly Gen Z and younger speed running the watching experience, what is exactly the point I wonder.
Directors, scriptwriters, musical composers, actors... Everything is made to make you feel some form of emotion. I wonder exactly how you can get immersed in a story, when you don't even bother to let the story flow like it's supposed to. Silence have meaning, speed of voice, tones, looks, glances...
It's like going to these speed dates, discussing 5 minutes with somebody and saying the person is boring when you obviously don't know sh** about said person.
I'm not saying this drama is good since I haven't watched it, but 2 negative top reviews from two people when it's been less than 13 hours the drama's out is ridiculous.
These reviews have no value whatsoever, since they obviously haven't bothered to watch the show as it should have been. Hopefully, these top reviews are buried under good ones by next week, whether positive or negative.
32K insane. Expect somewhere in the high 70 million viewership range, maybe even hitting 80 on yunhe. Insane numbers. 4th all time for Tencnet Heat. Check out the celebration poster in the photos section, poster team honestly working overtime, new one every single day. Honestly, I'm ashamed to say while I hoped it would break 100m daily views, not sure if I really believed. Now I believe! Only 5 shows ever have broken 100m daily views on a solo streaming platform per yunhe, fingers crossed this becomes the 6th!.
I only comment when I truly feel that the drama is so good. This has exceeded my expectation! I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THE PLOT. Superb acting on Zhao Lusi. Cant wait on the next episode.
LOL. Just ignore them. It's not like their own homegrown productions aren't guilty of what they're accusing you…
Oh, and did they really watched the entire series? Because if there is someone who should complain here, it is the current President of the United States of America.
The message—if we can call it that—of the show was the USA is the instigator of wars because it benefits them. The USA will bomb anyone anywhere because they feel like doing so, even if they lack actionable intel (hint: 2003 US invasion of Iraq).
It is actually surprising the current US President still hasn't noticed «Tempest» and say anything about it. Or, maybe he did and people around him constantly stopped him.
Seriously, if those who are complaining about how this TV series depicted this and that country actually watched «Tempest» they know the USA had the worst depiction.
Let's not forget, when Hollywood paints other countries in a negative light, no one complains about it, or at least they don't make efforts to be noticed. But if it was done by an Asian, people complain (Asians against Asians at that) and they make sure they are noticed.
Clearly double-standards. More likely political or backed by those with political interests.

It is fiction. In fiction, it is called alternate history. The way things unfolded in your fiction world unfolded that way because its history is different from the real world. Alternate history is an ancient genre in fiction.
Take for example the work entitled, «Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter». Scholars cringed when the book was released, and again when the film adaptation premiered. People will always find reasons to complain about (though it's questionable how much of their being is really into it, or to put it another, if they really are 100% into it and not simply fired up by someone's eloquent piece on why they should complain).
Fiction is fiction. Period. Even my own people complained about Dan Brown's description of Manila in «Inferno» being “The Gates of Hell” and I stood against that complaint. It's fiction.
It is when fiction is presented as fact that we should complain. Because then it is wrong and obviously an attempt to whitewash. One such example was the animated film «Elcano & Magellan». It was presented as a historical adaptation, not as fiction. It was no longer about artistic freedom. Yes, it was "history through their own lens" but they never presented it that way, they presented it as fact. Now that's clearly trying to push a colonialist narrative.
«Tempest» clearly stated it is fiction. It was never presented as fact. In other words, it is within the realms of alternate history fiction. That qualifies you to use your artistic freedom to tell the story of this world that was shaped differently because its past unfolded differently from the real world. Anyone complaining about it simply don't understand what fiction is or lacks the capacity to properly analyse works of art.
You know... I don't complain about the in your face HYPER Nationalism of Chinese in their dramas & movies. It's their nation, they love it, they want to promote it. They always have to be the best in the world, on the world championship stage winning and all other nations are shown having to cheer and clap and root for China. You can name countless dramas.
But there is a reason their are censors. There is reason you get specialized angles from dramas on the streets. There is a reason you could put an avatar pin down all over South Korea and the USA put have to fight to see the street view anywhere in China.
Not everything is about China. Not everything about China is good. China can talk shit about everyone else and wave their flag all over their dramas... No one goes out and tells them shit about it... but the idea they think they can control SOUTH KOREAN dramas like they live under CCP control is a bit telling, now isn't it. Feels like the old days when China made Korea it's red-headed step child bitch, took its women and wealth and made the citizens their slaves. Let's move on from those days and not be so HYPER Nationalistic.
And let's not deny that China will attempt to takeover Taiwan by any means necessary then squash their same sex marriage laws the second they do because they want to corner the semiconductor market of the world so they can CONTROL everyone else.... Stop being so freaking naive... Everyone else is just a straight up Marxist.
I enjoyed this very much. Bit over the top but possible in these times. We don’t have a clue how money is used and moved under the radar. Uff! The ending was adequate for the story. I see it as an open ending. Willing to hear insight and interpretation.
why do these kind of dramas have to have infidelity? i want to see a power couple instead I always like ALWAYS get male leads who cheat. i am fed up with this shit. cant writers do better writing and be more creative for once? why always cheating trope ughh
