After story of minglan comes against the current two best drama I have ever watched

People love to blame the FL for everything. I have also noticed that most viewers don't always like to try to see things from their point of view 🙃🙃🙃......which is kind of baffling to me especially since it's mostly women who watch these dramas

That’s true. I can already see the Stockholm syndrome accusations coming up even when it’s not true (I mean XLX has never said that she was glad he forced her afterall)🙈

Their love here is different and we also need to be mindful that we are talking about a couple that’s been through hell far too many times to expect a simple passionate romance. I find their pacing rather refreshing honestly.

Even Madam Qin looked down on LX's background, just that she was kind and didn't do anything.

The 3rd sister in law was portrayed as a vain person since the previous episodes, so her behaviour now isn't too surprising. And 2nd Madam was never a clear headed person to begin with. So, this combo just spells for trouble.

the second madam has always been easily swayed by other people’s opinions and now the third sister in law is always whispering in her ear unfortunately. since their branch has the eldest great-grandson, I guess they’re feeling a sense of entitlement.

All of a sudden second madam has amnesia and forgot who she relied on when the entire manor was quarantined because of poison and who saved them during that little rebellion. All of a sudden now Lanxiang is just a servant. Be so fcking for real

They need to just release all the episodes one episode a day is driving me nuts

between episodes 39 & 42, a lot of people are expressing disappointment that the big moments we've been waiting for don't quite deliver.

I think that's the only flaw in this show. Ending episodes on big cliffhangers primes the audience to expect something huge and/or cathartic. But this show has consistently shown that it's less interested in following typical drama conventions, and it's more slow paced and mundane.

I don't think audiences are wrong for feeling let down, because these cliffhanger dramatics in ep 39 & 42 can be seen as a mild betrayal of what the show stands for. They're very effective for building anticipation, but then that's also what leads to the stark disappointment.

I don't think it ever will. The Shen family was condemned and sentenced by the previous Emperor. As LanXiang said in earlier episodes, the Emperor's words are law and never "wrong." If her real identity is found out, then she would be guilty of treason for deceiving the Emperor. At best, she will be sent to the Music Bureau as the women of the Shen family were originally sentenced to do so. At worst, she, her Xu parents and entire Lin family will face the same fate as the Shen family for hiding her (even if unknowingly).

Yes, there is a glimmer of hope that the current Emperor will revoke the previous' Emperor's decision because of Lin Jin Qi's achievements. But that opera scene that Lan Xiang wrote for Jin Qi clearly demonstrated that the fickleness of an Emperor's favoritism, and how quickly that favoritism can become deadly. If found out, Jin Qi would be doubly guilty of hiding her and for deceiving the Emperor in asking for the marriage decree.

Maybe in a different cdrama, there would be an epic reveal of her identity and everyone will be shocked and feel shamed by their treatment of her. But this drama has been incredibly grounded and unflinching in depicting the reality of that era, so I feel like to do such a reveal will be uncharacteristic and undermine main themes of this series. Really, the best outcome of the show is what they depicted - an unsaid understanding from Jin Qi who now knows who she really is, even if they can't ever speak of it and living out their lives in peace together.
