I am really surprised at the high rating of this drama. Absolutely one of the worst writings I have seen. No logic…
Same. It's the worst-written Chinese drama I have watched in a long time. And what you say is exactly the reason, and it's always the same on MDL. Fan girls rating a drama simply because of the guy/girl in it.
It's a shame as it wastes people's time when they expect a decent drama, and then get THIS.
Few of the events made sense after about Episode 8, but they really went downhill after she fell off that cliff (and Meng Zi Yi still had the same blank, empty face as she was falling, as she did in every other scene - an horrendous performance).
The female lead's actions didn't make sense for most of the drama (I dropped it at Ep 24), Meng Zi Yi's performance was one of the worst I've seen in any Asian drama -- Chinese or otherwise -- with poor suffering Liu Xue Yi's performance carrying her through every single scene she was in.
And I'm still trying to figure out why his sister was ever in it. A more useless character it would be difficult to find, in a whole series of pointless characters.
In all good conscience, I couldn't rate this above a 2 regardless that Liu Xue Yi did his usual superb job, and that 2 was for HIS performance. It's a draggy, horribly written, abysmal in every respect mess.
The whole thing just made me so angry, as the writer of the novel it is based on deserved better, and Liu Xue Yi, one of China's best current younger actors, definitely deserved better.
Liked this in the beginning until everyone started making really dumb decisions. Also you’re in Joseon era but don’t understand why your fiance is upset every time he sees you with another man?? 😩
When you think it’s great and the twist is fun… they overdo it.Seon Chaek and Su Gyeom are jumping on my last…
Meanwhile, we have one prince who was so close to power for years and didn’t do a single thing about it.
Then the other is thousands of kilometers away, in era when sending one letter would take weeks, yet still capable of organizing a huge and powerful organization. With no money and power at the time of starting lol..
Also, Seon Chaek’s dad is the highest ranking politician, yet he has zero influence. Usually people in his position are the villains, but suddenly he can’t do a single sh*t.
The female lead in the web novel is completely different. This is probably another case where the actor used his…
I don't think the problem lies in billings. The problem lies in the hand of the scriptwriters. I assume they are newbie or unknown. Perhaps they had problems with Jiang Taohua and the novel so they made a new character and story for the drama. Even Zaiye's sister doesn't make sense.
The plot between the Third Prince and the empress is a mess! People are all blaming Jiang Taohua, but to me, it's understandable, though they sometimes stretch it. She never had anyone to trust. She grew up in a far more cruel situation than Shen ZY, and he has even tried to kill her multiple times. Her life is at stake. Her brother's life is at stake. So I can understand her not wanting to yield or submit or trust Shen Zaiye. Just because Shen Zai Ye has regretted and is now in love with her doesn't mean she has to reciprocate it.
This makes sense, but I just wish the screenwriter had written it better. Also when she had no memory, she said she felt a stabbing pain whenever she saw his back. This sounds so lovely because I am an angst lover. But there were barely any scenes where there was genuine affection between them, particularly from her part.
I think this drama has the dumbest assassination plan I've ever seen: destroy an entire city to kill a few people. And why shoot arrows at the innocent civilians. It just doesn't make sense.
What a brilliant script writing. A very fresh and novel idea on time or story book travel by making fun of the…
Though I’m one to never compare dramas I did drop that one. But not because of the script writer in the script, but because of the writers in production that flunked it.
