I am stating facts; the facts are that these backing allegations are flying around right now. Yes, apparently a rising artist cannot land a female lead role not even opposite ZLH, it's mostly the level of this production plus ZLH, and over other choices that could be arguably 'better'. And why use the word 'suspect'? Nobody is making having resources a negative thing, it's just something that could be true. But does she not have backing? Without backing, she could not land the project like this and that is also a 'fact' in itself. She would have not made it till now in the industry without backing. As well as her superior treatment in her agency which is a well known situation, people have the right to assume she has backing. There is no need to 'defend' her against having resources, nobody is saying she is talentless and doesn't deserve the role, just pointing out that she might have backing. You are interpreting this as a very negative observation. I respect your opinion that you think she doesn't have backing, as proved by your comments, as well as the fact that you are thinking well for her as a fan and not wanting her to take this project. However, worse rumours were out there a long time ago, yet she still signed. I, as a fan, would rather her take the project instead of letting haters think they hold the power. So I guess it's just difference of opinion that keep us apart.

Yes, there might be unreasonable question raising when it comes to LYX, but it may happen when it comes to any other actor. Thank you for clarifying that you are not directing at me, it's been a very long day and I don't want to come back to where I enjoy spending time (MDL) facing a stream of attacking comments haha. Yes, perhaps people have only seen her recent popularity and decided to make assumptions, or look down on her just because they are not fans. I'm glad we agree now, and this is off topic...but Shangguan Qian is really peak acting. I do honestly really like her as an actress and intend to continue to do so in the future. Hopefully we will be here together when the drama airs, to enjoy it together.

Yes, I am stating facts. I apologize if I offended you, but I never stated that 100% this was all because of connections. I have no proof, and I never said I did. I mentioned this supposed excellent backing as it was the whole topic of this comment chain, as well as what netizens were discussing at the time. Never said she was an unknown nobody, nor did I state explicitly that she does not deserve this role, or that her with ZLH is unbelievable and all to do with her connections. I am, in a way, reiterating narratives that her 'naysayers' and 'haters' say as you just mentioned, albeit the fact that I wouldn't go that far in calling them so. I mentioned multiple times that personally I am happy and I think LYX deserves this role as I am a fan, and that I enjoy watching her act. I was not joining the 'naysayers' and 'haters', I was stating that this is what many assumed and were talking about on Chinese media, because some do think it unbelievable that she landed this project. I also think although the arranged marriage might seem really forced and against her will (I mea on a surface level it is) but I don't think this is negative progression for her...girl never even thought this was an option in her brain like you said. Cannot wait to watch her slowly fall for him (although maybe the reactions of Jinqi's family should be taken into consideration, but I don't think it should be too big of a problem...the only other main head is his mum and she seems like a reasonable person so fingers crossed there are no unnecessary complications)

And to think I was questioning myself whether I should watch it or not...I first took special notice of Liu Xueyi as Murong Jinghe in Kill Me Love Me (although the drama itself was not peak quality material, Murong Jinghe did everything for me...the way he spoke the way he looked the way he dressed the way he moved I LOVE HIM AHH (sorry went on off a tangent there)) but it led me to start loving Liu Xueyi as an actor. I wasn't a big fan of Tan Songyun before this but now I fear my opinions are changing rapidly

It's just the main leads (in the novel) are both women, their relationship is to do with stolen identity and power struggles and NO romance involved. The romance is with Tian Xiwei and Wei Daxun's characters.

Roles aren't always allotted by seniority but in the eyes of many this is just a problem people like to pick out. Zhang Linghe gets high budget projects back to back now because of his immense popularity and success in the past few years like Story of Kunning Palace, Love between Fairy and Devil and of course the record breaking Pursuit of Jade this year. He now attracts way more attention and 'traffic' as well as investor interest so gets bigger projects. It's not because LYX is a woman, you don't see people asking that about Zhao Liying or Yang Zi now because they've convinced the Chinese media of their skill and experience. I agree every agency should try the best for their artists, and here you mention another key point of the controversy. ZLH and LYX are under the same agency, yet people have pointed out that LYX is receiving much better treatment and favouritism and being called Star Times' "princess". This suggests her industry backup here. Not sure why her role is getting dismissed by cnetz, but it is indeed what happened in the past few months. People only mentioned it recently when it comes to her because this project attracts major attention, and it's definitely not the first time some actor/actress has been pointed out for having this. Not sure about Liang Jie, anything could be happening in the background like good pay, more media attention etc. And I personally am not dismissing LYX's role as a result of connections, I am just stating that some do think this way. I agree, she should have the limelight now as she has already made it this far and plus she's my favourite right now and I love her characters. Yes, the entertainment industry is quite harsh and anyone could get replaced at any time which is a very valid point. I will also watch any drama for the story, screenplay and as entertainment as well as hoping to reduce unnecessary talks like you mention. Yes, that is true. Main roles are some people's tool and support roles are others'. Not saying she hasn't earned this and not saying someone gave it to her on a platter, I'm just stating that she is lucky in the industry. Many do not have the good fortune to develop a career like hers.

Not denying she does have great filmography and talent but there is also no denying she has unnaturally good backup as well. There are so many actresses who have been working a lot longer than her, perhaps with equal amounts of potential, that have faded into the background. They might be there but we won't even know they exist. Revenge is a high budget S+ drama and having casted LYX who counts as a 'less experienced' actor in the grand scheme of things and over Liang Jie as well proved she has developed very impressive resources. One of the main controversial points of the hate the casting got was that Liang Jie was chosen as a supporting role while LYX is FL, and for many OG fans in China this really bothered the cnetz a lot. I've seen discussions agreeing that LJ deserves it more, she is 'prettier' and with 'better acting skills'. I personally don't agree with their constant arguing and putting down a woman to raise another one up, but it is true that as an actress along with her skills and talents, LYX does have exceptional backing in the industry as well.
