I completely agree with you! I absolutely hate when the writers separate the characters at the end of the series for an absurdly long period of time.

It didn't bother me when SOTUS did it in the second season. But by then Kong and Arthit had been together for years. Arthit flew to Japan with Kong to drop him off. They showed us that the guys were video chatting every day. And they showed us their warm reunion.

However, in Tale of a Thousand Stars... we finally get the confession RIGHT before they separate for YEARS. And then we are shown the guys did not keep in touch AT ALL. That's crazy. Tian comes back. They kiss and show over. Thanks.

I'm thinking maybe it is a cultural difference thing...I'm guessing this idea of your love enduring even when you cannot be together, or communicate in anyway is supposed to be really romantic. Just once I would like a BL that has one of the characters coming back after their 2 years abroad and the series be about the 2 guys falling in love all over again.

I used to babysit for a woman with 7 gay exes. She was so self conscious about it. But, it was just so surprising to me. I couldn't believe it.

Gah. This show tricked me. I only started watching it because I thought it was complete. I should have done my research.

Dark Blue Kiss is an interesting example because Pete/Kao started as like a third tier couple in Kiss the Series. Got upgraded to secondary in Kiss Me Again and then upgraded a second time to lead couple in Dark Blue Kiss. But, TayNew are in that rare class of pairings with amazing chemistry both in their series and in their other appearances.

I know what you mean! I'm so scared to let myself love this series! But episode 3 was just amazing. SO much chemistry between the leads. And the whole cast works together so well.

Olan just seems to always be sitting outside Ben's house. Its weird. Even the second time they meet Olan wasn't the delivery driver that Ben ordered. Why was he sitting in front of Ben's house. And after the party when Ben sent him away he was just sitting there...Why?

That is a flat out absurd and dangerous thesis statement. There are many millions of LGBTQ+ people that have faced and survived various queer-phobias only to go on to live full, happy lives.

Just re-watched everything...I think I'm going to reconsider my stance on Olan... I still like him, but, I also now think he's kind of creepy as fuck. Not sure what direction this show is going in but it has me nervous. Just don't punish Jim, Yana or Flo... Do whatever you want to Ben, though. I don't care about him.

Half of the comments here are "Stop thinking" or "Don't think about it so much." And I think that is a bigger insult to the show than any of the (perfectly valid) criticisms of the show's choices. Keep it up peeps! You're doing a better job of tearing this show down than anyone who expressed concerns about potentially harmful clichés and troupes. Hahahaha. Gotta love people who defend a thing by proving the critics' point.

Every time a new show disappoints me I'm just like, "Whelp, that sucked. Let's watch SOTUS/SOTUS S again."

In my perfect world it would be JimXOlan. (I, personally, hate Ben.) But since I KNOW that isn't an option, I'm going to root for BenXOlan and JimXYana.

I'm really happy that you enjoy this show and that it speaks to you in such a special way. When it's all said and done I'll make a judgement call for myself how I feel about the show and if I want to complete it.

I agree with you 100%. I mean Ken ALSO over reacted after the phone call. But that was still after the others did what they did and screwed everything up.

I'd advise to be careful with that opinion here though. Sandee has a lot of stans on this site. And they will start arguing with you that Sandee was a perfect angel who did nothing wrong and Ken was abusive jerk who was wrong for not loving and worshipping her back.

I stopped watching at episode 5. I'm going to wait for the series to finish airing so I can get a better sense of what happens. There are certain tropes I refuse to watch at this point.
