Pretty sure the tribe people aren't hiding anything from sorn. The mom went missing looking for the dad and they sent out search parties but she was never found. What more do you expect them to tell him, when that's all they know? The reason they're not letting him out is cz of what happened to his mom and they told that to him too and i don't think he lacks common sense to not know the scent part cz he hid it from scent...
