Title Alienoid 1
Coming out on digital, DVD, and blu-ray on Dec. 8 in the US from Well Go USA! So excited to watch this again, as a science fiction fan and lover of korean dramas, I loved the fusion of sci fi and korean martial arts. Watched it for Kim Woo Bin, but I grew to love the other two main actors as well.

Person Park Bo Gum
In reading interviews with Park Bo Gum on what roles he'd like to play, he has repeatedly said that he wants to show other sides of himself that haven't been seen before. In looking at his previous projects each role is so different and unique from the others. I wonder what kind of role and story he will choose next that will be yet another type of character that we haven't seen?

Oh, would you recommend Gap dong? It's on my list as similar to Hello monster but darker so I'm not sure if I'd like it, since I don't like tragic endings or very grusome death scenes.

I love the show but what was that at the end?
I had questions too but there is a forum post above with discussion on the ending that helped me out.

This is a masterpiece. I was really happy that Taek ended up with Deok Sun. I have 2 regrets only. 1. less screen…
I just finished watching it and I completely agree, I was really waiting for that reveal to the family. Perhaps they didn't include it because the older siblings' reveal took up so much drama. But I really really wanted to see everyone's reaction.

I read some reviews and thought I'd try it because of Seo In Guk. It was okay at first, I was intrigued but as…
I will ask you what I posted on this thread, as I'm very intrigued but hate tragic endings ... is there a good place where I could just stop before the end? Even if just halfway through, I could see doing so.

I have a crazy question: it is possible to watch this drama and skip the ending? Such as stop at ep 14 or 15?…
I loath tragic endings as (for me) they destroy any point in watching the show. But I am already hooked on the first few episodes, so much so that I am considering whether I could watch until a "good" stopping point. (I did this with another drama as well.)

I have a crazy question: it is possible to watch this drama and skip the ending? Such as stop at ep 14 or 15? I just got off Hello, Monster and started this one and it has a similar vibe, however .... (see below)

Do you know what the note said when he kidnapped the baby?? None of the reasoning in this dang thing makes sense…
I don't know what the note said either, but based on later scenes I think the mother knows who took the baby. I agree with what you said about the guy's reasoning, but I loved Lee Min Ho's character and the drama overall.

Hotel Del Luna is probably the closest with the magic, symbolism, and part of the story is set in the past with…
Arthdal was on my list for a while now, but doesn't it end on a cliffhanger or something? Sounds like a season 2 is coming though, so perhap I should wait until that has aired and read reviews for the final verdict. I just don't like sad endings or unfinished endings.

I watch both K dramas and C dramas and I have to agree that Chinese historical/costume dramas are a hidden gem…
I feel the same way! The only two modern chinese dramas that I really like were The Rational Life (great main leads), and Truth ( for chen xing xu, it's quite dark). However in the last year I've discovered so many great contemporary Korean dramas that cover a lot more genres than I've ever watched, from doctor, lawyer, thriller/detective, reporter, chaeobol (rich families internal politics), and even some romances.

@Authors, good job! :)@readers & commenters: this is definitely a recommendation, not a "let's fight over who's…
Same for me, I honestly didn't know anything about C-dramaland until The Untamed, and since then I've never found anything that moved me to such a degree. However after a lot of watching many, many c-dramas I realized that I like wuxia and political intrigue the best. For me the Chinese dramas that most captured this aspect were Sword Snow Stride, Novoland Eagle Flag, Evernight, and Ancient Detective. My other highest dramas that aren't wuxia are Secret of the Three Kingdoms and Lost Love in Times for their political intrigue, great main male leads, and very smart female leads.

I’m surprised most kdrama watchers have not heard of Six Flying Dragons. It’s not a fantasy kdrama but a coming…
I see that six Flying Dragons is top of my list as similar to The Untamed when I made the list two years ago! I will have to try find it, now that I am enjoying Korean fantasy/costume dramas. It looks like it's not available on Viki in the US right now, so may be hard for me to track down right now.

I would probably recommed The Legends (cdrama) it also has a strong FL who needs to live in a body of way weaker…
Ooh, the Legends keeps coming up, and I like Xu Kai. I started it but hadn't gotten very far, but I think I will enjoy it much more now that I like Xu Kai, and there are other plots elements that I've heard are similar to some other C-dramas that I like (Love Lost in times especially).

Wow, so that's why I enjoyed Alchemy of Souls so much. The Untamed was my first ever Chinese drama and remains the highest every C or K drama, ever to be overtaken. I loved Alchemy of Souls being so fantastical and yet grounded in relationships and interpersonal drama, and I found the female heroine and all the male leads and supports to be so interesting.

The Untamed had the huge strength of being Wei Wuxian's story foremost, a character with unending charms and soulfulness, and it was the closest experience to the Lord of the Rings films that I've encountered since those movies came out.

Alchemy of Souls tops my small list of Korean fantasies that I've watched (the only other similar was Lovers of the Red Sky.

Person Park Bo Gum
[To Bo Gum fans, I am posting what I put on the Young Actors' Retreat page as you'll get a kick out of it. ]

I started the show not knowing Park Bo Gum's name, and about halfway through, suddenly, all the little gestured of kindness, proactivity, and cute reactions just piled up and then I realized he was the actor from Seo Bok and WHAM! I was his fan. In the last two weeks I've been binge-watching his shows (rewatched Seobok twice, finished Hello Monster, Enounter, and Record of youth, currently watching Love in the Moonlight, and leaving Reply 1988 for the end). The fact that there was this person on YAR who kept talking to others, being encouraging, laughing so freely and bringing smiles all round, giving lettuce-wraps to the staff and silently cleaning up after the filming ended, this was Park Bo Gum! The Bo Gum magic is real. The fact that he came from four days in Paris directly onto this set and brought such energy and infectious laughter is astonishing to me, and I'm sure he gained other fans as well.

This show is going to win an award, right? I usually don't think about awards for any show but this brought so much pleasure to the viewers and apparently high ratings that the director and others who made it possible should win!

My first watch was Team Ji Chang Wook, and his kind and down-to-earth personality was a highlight in every episode. In Yeop may take the cake for getting the most screen time and he was extremely entertaining.

I started the show not knowing Park Bo Gum's name, and about halfway through, suddenly, all the little gestured of kindness, proactivity, and cute reactions just piled up and then I realized he was the actor from Seo Bok and WHAM! I haven't watched Itowon Class so I didn't key in on their team as much, but they displayed a lot of teamwork and a close bond. Lee Joo Young especially impressed me (loved that she looked tough to other teams and wasn't picked for the test of courage, and it was all an act).

Final question: the director mentioned there were two actors in particular whom he worried would be concerned about a difference between their on-screen personas and real life selves. I am wondering about In Yeop, and then Ryu Kyung Soo (who apparently was a villain in Itowon class)? But were there others who appeared wildly different than their on-screen image. Who do you think these two were?

just imagine if director "park shin woo" do this 1.encounter --(park bo gum, song Hye kyo)2.lovestruck in the city--(ji…
I would be there for Park Bo Gum, Ji Chang Wook and Kim Soo Hyun! Okay okay, and Lee Min Ho too, but the first three together would be especially great. Park Bo Gum in anything, he seems made for these kinds of social gatherings.
