I'm aware surgery is viral in Korea especially for Koreans' idol. It goes against my beliefs and I still watch K dramas. So no, it didn't affect the way I see Lee Bo Young. I think money and beauty are Korean's favorite theme in drama. These themes are too shallow for me.
Also, I'm not new to Korean dramas so I kind of know what i'm talking about.
That's just my personal opinion. Perhaps I was too biased in my first comment. However, the overall story was unbelievable and illogical, I'm not the only one who say so.

It annoys to see that everything in this drama is so unnatural, the fact she resorted to hardcore surgery add more unrealistic elements to this show. Plus I hate the way Korean systematically resort to surgery. As a foreigner, all I see in drama are the same faces, V-line's faces, straight noses, big eyes and pale skin. Is it natural ? No. Do I see the same features in J-Drama ? Less often, and not in a stereotypical way as in K-drama. Korean show business has an oversimplified view of beauty, as a matter of fact I disregard the main actress performance's for being brainwashed by Korean show business. (Also her acting was awful, she was hamming it up.)
Kim Tae woo isn't ugly, but you probably know better than me Korean beauty standard's for male and you know he's not respecting them, hence the fact he's portrayed as a double faced character.
Currently watching this, I'm impressed by how things are realistic in this drama. Really a good show so far. But sometimes, Oshin's kindness is really annoying. She's been trampled on so many times and yet she doesn't turn into a bitter person. Unbelievable.
The drama was starting good. Then it all went mediocre. The plot was becoming predictable and the mother was one the worst character ever, she was so unnatural, she was overacting everything. Most the times no normal mother would have gone that far. I had a hard time maintaining my interest in this show because of her. One more thing that reveals this drama shallowness is that from the beginning you can guess the husband's is going to be involved in messy business just because he's ugly. That's an aspect of K-Drama I hate, everything is based on physical appearance. Plus, the main actress resorted to hardcore surgery, as expected in a K-Drama.
I read the book and this drama awful. Like Yariru said the main actress just ruined the entire show. Also, the cheerful background music that can be heard throughout the drama doesn't respect the mood of the original book. To me, the book was more serious and believable. This drama was a shameful adaption.
