In reality it would be highly impossible, it is not only women who would look down on the male role but also other…
Woaaah, calm your horses, fiery girl!! π π π I canβt say I agree with all points of Mikael Jakobsson there, however some points are correct, especially that ML is really behaving petty and itβs annoying - a man of his status and achievements should have more self-confidence and not chasing after an ex with petty business battles like that.
However there are not many male watchers on MDL, so I value reading their viewpoint when they occasionally comment somewhere, because I find the comparison of those viewpoints interesting.
Otherwise I am on board with you, I am loving both leads and am looking forward for their development. π
I think you have the blame the writer. The story is plain boring. And the Victoria Song character is written to…
Well, she broke up with him after all, what is she supposed to do now?
I am only 4 episodes in the drama, so my opinion might be outdated, however I think I would hate the FL character, if she was all smiles and seductiveness around ML. It would make her heartless and bitchy. This way, that she frowns around ML suggests, she still cares and probably regrets the break up, or at least isn't over it.
Both lead characters need some development and I am looking forward to it.
Pretty low rating... What are people liking and disliking about this drama?
Just about to ask the same question. I have only finished 4 episodes so far, however I already love the drama dynamics. I am maybe a bit annoyed by ML pettiness, but it's not exaggerated to the insane level, so I am cool with it. The topic of the main plot is also very relevant, the interpreter job is currently indeed threatened by AI translating algorithms. Interpreters are safe so far, however many translators are already forced to change their job objectives, some of them even considering changing careers completely, so I don't see any problem in the plot either. Quite the opposite, i find the dispute of whether AI can or cannot replace human interpreters very gripping and I am looking forward to the conclusion of this dispute.
So far it's more business focused and not romance focused, and I have encountered on several occasions, that if the drama is not solely about good romance, many people disliked it just because they expected romance and couldn't come to terms with the fact, the drama has also other objectives except for romance. I really hope this is that case, since I really like the drama so far and hope Chinese screenwriters didn't screw up after few initial episodes... π π
The mountain spirit character could have been scripted better - he's almighty after all, don't tell me he can…
but he slapped dozen guards with their own arrows and alway knew what his beloved was up to, he can freeze people or animals mid step, but sudenly can't do any of that when witnessing the scene on the cliff, it didn't make any sense.
however this info about him not being allowed to kill according to lore is interesting, i didn't know that β€οΈ
The airing schedule hasn't helped. I think this drama would be much more enjoyable if you just watched it straight…
oh yes, definitely, frustration i believe has a huge part on assessment of this drama. i binge watched first 9 episodes and than waited to binge watch next four, and those f*cked up episodes definitely don't seem that bad in the context of episode 13, so the impression of the whole drama shifts.
Its been fine for me and I am usually the person who dissects a drama or scene and I haven even summonsed up any…
I think every shade of reddish or orange color on hair is called a redhead, isn't it? Her hair color seems to be orange.
That's true she seems older. I didn't mind that fact personally, because she is supposed to be a teacher and no shiny young model, so I liked her older-looking appearance, since she looked exhausted and worn down, as any teacher would, it was accurate. However, you are right, she looks older than the ML. I didn't realise it until you mentioned it, since most asian actors look half their real age, so I have build up an age-perceiving immunity against them lol. π
Now that you've mentioned it, I have seen her in several other dramas, mostly on support roles, so I don't even recall seing her, but I have seen Dali and the Cocky Prince, and I didn't recognize her untill I looked up her dramas. ππ
Okay, so after reading the stream of really bad comments on last episodes I finally gathered the courage to watch…
The mountain spirit character could have been scripted better - he's almighty after all, don't tell me he can kill dozen guards at once and knows about everything on his mountain, but suddenly can't dodge two guards and few seconds of not looking is suddenly cause for the whole plot...
Okay, so after reading the stream of really bad comments on last episodes I finally gathered the courage to watch it myself, and honestly they were a lot better than I expected.
Sure, there were few really unnecessary and stupid moments, and the cause of the whole plot (specified in reply bellow in spoiler) is among the stupidest things I have seen so far in a drama (although I have seen worse as well). However based on the comments here I have expected the drama to be completely butchered, but the butchered part takes only two episodes, while the rest is great.
So maybe this is because I was expecting a great disappointment, but I am overall satisfied with where things are heading, and although it's not perfect, I agree it had much greater potential, I still consider it worth watching.
what the main diversion from the webtoon? (mark as spoiler, i am just curious, if the webtoon has a better plot)
oh wow, the original webtoon sounds really good, i will go and read it instead, it seems a better choice than hoping for this drama adaptation to somehow turn better. β€οΈ thank you for the details βΊοΈ
i have just finished episode 9 and started to warm up for the 2ML, enjoying the contrast between the cheery history teacher and badass mountain spirit, and now i read these comments complaining about him... don't tell me kdrama screenwriters ruined yet another plot and turned the character with a potential into a dumb revenge asshole, i may just cry πππππππ i was looking forward for a drama, that won't get boring after leads get together, because there will be an interest second couple development. okay, i may delay watching next episodes until the rest of the drama is out, this is frustrating, I don't want to loose my love interest so quick π
I totally agree. The ML character in this drama is mean to her. He is so mad at her for things out of her control.…
I am disliking the fact he treated her like alien occupying and stealing his sweethearts body. if there are no two versions of her, that indeed makes sense and it was one of my guesses where the plot may go, but that means he was treating her poorly for nothing. π meh, i am not saying i don't like the plot, i like the plot, i am just disliking the ML.
I totally agree. The ML character in this drama is mean to her. He is so mad at her for things out of her control.…
i am not "acting like i don't know", i indeed don't know, since i haven't watched all episodes yet. i made the comment when 10 episodes were out, stopped at ep. 9 already so annoyed I was skipping a lot of that episode and in no mood to watch the 10th and came here to see if anybody else has the same problems. there were no signs of any improvements in behaviour up to my knowledge up until then, don't make assumptions.
but if what you say is true that just further proves my worries and this drama is probably indeed nothing for me after all.
Iβm in between saying hello to you and ohhhh no π
Oh, hello there! I long since dreamt of meeting a friend in comments πππ Shoot, I love to hear your disagreements, maybe you'll convince me to return to those scenes I skipped because i couldn't stand those two ππ
I totally agree. The ML character in this drama is mean to her. He is so mad at her for things out of her control.…
they happened nevertheless, what we are talking about is, that the fact they were accurate at one point of the story makes it incredibly hard for us to vibe into any next developments.
for me personally any type of physical assault makes it almost impossible for me to like a character. so what if that happened at the beginning of the story? does that mean i should have forgotten it by now? that's why i wrote although i would love to enjoy this story, i can't, because my mind keeps reminding me of their past interactions, which makes any of their present interactions hard to watch, no matter if those interactions are good or bad.
thus i wrote i feel really conflicted and asked if anybody else has problems getting over the physical assault and how he treated her like an absolute shit.
I totally agree. The ML character in this drama is mean to her. He is so mad at her for things out of her control.…
Thank you, I was reading all those positive comments and was wondering whether I am delusional, because nobody seems to mind the fact he is able to treat a girl like shit. I would run from a guy able of this treatment miles away.
What if the true JXY comes back, will he just flip like he didn't torture an innocent girl half of the series? And what if she won't be able to come back, will he just continue making her double feel miserable? What if those two turn out to be same person, how will he settle with all those thing he has done to her? Either way he will stay a jerk, I can't help it, I just can't see any happy ending, you named it perfectly, it will be really hard for his character to make a recovery. π₯²
I hate the way he started treating her after he finally connected the dots. It's not like she stole his childhood sweetheart, nor did she hide anything from him from the very beginning. Yet the way he treated her those few episodes makes it really hard for me to forgive him and to like his character again. And I dislike her character as well for getting along with him after that.
After this i started skipping a lot of the plot, because I just can't stand to see them together, I hate every dialogue they have and hate both him picking on her and being nice to her, just everything he does from that moment onwards feels so wrong.
The plot is very good, so are the actors, they also make a great couple, but the way he was abusive with her for that little while makes it almost impossible for me to be a fan of those two together on one screen ever again. I feel really conflicted. Maybe if he just said few hurtfull things and than worked things out with her, I would be okay with the whole plot, but because he was abusive with her physically as well, and kept atacking her for a pretty long time, way too long for my liking, I feel disgusted with him and eventhou I really want to like the drama, I am not able to get over this and enjoy it again.
Am I alone in this, or does anybody feel the same?
