Who else is excited to see Park Hyung Sik as emperor again? I loved his character in Hwarang, seen just the first few episodes of Our Blooming Youth so far, but already know I will love him here as well. Great actor.

I can’t help not to love lady General. When she first appeared, I thought she will be that typical ML-stealing-cliché-character, but she immediately realized those two like each other, she rooted for them, teased Han Zheng about it and never got involved with him romantically. Team Chi Lan!

Anyone else found that piggy-nose-kiss of Su Jiu Er and Han Zheng in ep. 35 hilarious? I swear, she kissed him like a fish!! :D

I like the fact there are differences, each country tradition and mentality more or less mirrored in their movies. Which western show was it?

Ok, I have checked again those episodes thoroughly and I am sorry, you are right, there was no other kidnaping. I lived under the impression Kokdus brother got kidnaped after he was rescued from that pool. Now I am sitting here, unable to find the scene I was so sure I saw, shaking my head and wondering if I mistook it with another drama or if I'm just getting old. :D

I have grown up on wester dramas and movies. I also do remember many of them letting the audience connect the dots. I don't remember however, there would be just a scene cuts, there was usually some cue in the script, so you knew, they are trying to implicate something. But it is possible I got just too used to Asian dramas explaining everything (like having a dummy character to whom others have to explain everything, or having inner monologs :D ).

The plot hole here is not how FLs brother was rescued, but how FL forgets all about him - she didn't know her brother was near the explosion and rescued by police, and it wouldn't drag the story showing her worrying about him instead of drowning herself in self-pity over Kokdus revelation. Maybe its not a plot hole, but it definetly felt weird.

I think the author was referring to Kokdus brother unexplained rescue, not FLs.

It might have been the fault of edditing, but there are many of these little details leaving people here confused, so the editing is harming the story then.

Yeah... There are more moments like this, that you wonder, if you have just missed something. I have seen somebody voicing an opinion, some scenes might have been deleted during editing, but it always feels like you missed a step while running down the stairs.

It's okay, I have catched up a bit too late, why are the comments so heated and felt a strong urge to stand up for those I considered attacked. Only after your comment I realized you probably know each other and those emotions do probably not come from those comment alone. I will be looking forward to join other discussions, I will learn, I love this community. :-)

I admit, I am not here that long, so I am not able to judge, who is here a reliable stable user and who is not, I only react based on what I see under that comment. I still know very little about this community and wanted to be active, to get to know you people better. But I have obviously chosen a bad drama for that start. I have no idea how other comment sections look, always I briefly looked at some, there were only positive I-love-it type of comments, there was nothing to react on, so I got excited, in here there is a lot going on and couldn't understand why is it wrong. I promise I will shut up from now on, I will only react on Kokdu series and not this controversy again, I will search for other place to interact.

I have checked one-drama-account users only twice, both times when they attacked other users. One of them attacked other one-drama-account, claiming its a hater fake account, when she herself had only Kokdu on watchlist, rating it a 10, I found her attack hilarious, thats why I made that remark.

I get involved in comments here often, mostly if I agree with them, or in defense of those, who were attacked by other users. I have never once attacked anyone expressing his opinion on this drama I also never claimed someone is hyping this drama.

I haven't twisted your words, and if you feel so, then I will apologize, it wasn't my intention. I just couldn't understand, why are you replying to my comment claiming something I wasn't talking about, so I tried to clarify myself.

Me: if there are haters, there are also hypers, based on statistics, since the 10 rating peak is much higher than in other dramas, latter balancing the former, so the rating is accurate on MDL standards

I don't like people babbling nonsense with no proof, therefore I offered, if there were really haters here, why are there so many dramas out there with same rating distributions - if there were so many haters here, to lower the rating significantly, there would have to be some evidence at the statistics and I haven't found any.

Well, you are reasoning based on what you saw at comments and experienced yourself. I just wanted to offer another point of view based on mathematics, showing similar things are happening with other dramas too so it might be natural here as well.

I am not wondering the rating dropped after ep.2, because the drama became a mess for me after that episode and went worse as progresed, so I was continuously lowering my rating too. I think the rating might rise a bit after ep.13, I will definitely rise mine at least a bit.

By the way, why is everybody considering 7,6 a low rating? From when I come from, movies/dramas rating over 7 are already considered very good and worth a watch, and those rating around 8,5 are already considered masterpieces - I rarely saw any rating exceeding 9 (maybe some documentaries only).
I have a bit shifted scale, so I don't consider Kokdu rating bad, but I consider many other dramas on MDL overrated. While rating, I always consider all factors - acting, story, characters, visuals - they are assesed subjectively, but if one of those are bad to me, that drama can't get a 10 anymore.

Nope, that's absolutely not what I ment and I am glad you mentioned that, so I can clarify. :-)

I rarely give a 10, BUT I have also given a higher than deserved rating to dramas I felt personally attached to. Therefore I can imagine a lot of people giving a 10 to apreciate their favourite drama and its natural, so I commented almost every drama having a slight hype on a 10, because there will always be a group of people rating it high for personal preference.

But Kokdu has a very high hype on 10, at least twice as much compared with other dramas with simmilar distribution I looked up, thats why I think, the natural group of people expressing their liking is enriched of other group of people, giving it a 10 for other reasons. So I absolutely didn't want to tell, every person rating this drama a 10 was hyping it, that would be hypocritical.

I liked the ep.13 the best so far. I got excited when FLs brother finally confirmed his suspicions about Kokdu and I was very nicely surprised by the moment of him and Kokdu at the river - my favourite scene so far. Now I am looking forward to next episode just to see more of their collaboration.

FL was annoying with her excessive emotional overreacting, as ever. I am so displeased with her character at this point, I am not sure I will ever like her, no matter what happens in last episodes.

I also loved the fact, Kokdu was not a comic figure anymore in this episode. I liked him with this kind of vibes a lot more. But the chemistry between him and the FL seems to be completely gone.

Just a litle experimnet:
I opened up the statistics (the little histogram icon next to rating) of Kokdu and more random dramas, looking up the detailed rating histogram. I was able to find several dramas with a very simmilar distribution as Kokdu in a matter of seconds (Forest, Radio Romance, Introverted Boss, Backstreet Rockie, ...).

Now you can say every single drama with the same rating distribution as Kokdu has its own group of haters with fake accounts. For me, this indicates, there are simply dramas awakening mixed thoughts, mirroring this at ratings.

I have no intention to deny the existence of fake accounts, I just think the group of haters would have to bee significantly larger to make a difference. You can also see at the histogram Kokdu has not only "hater" ratings, but also a significant group of people giving it a 10. Almost every drama has a litle hype on 10 (I have seen several accounts using the rating scale as a binary system - 10 for like, 1 for dislike), but Kokdu has a significantly larger hype. Be those malevolent people hyping the score, or people trying to make up for the haters, their amount seems to be larger than that of those haters, making it even.

Tough, if a character is scripted to overreact, it still is an overreacting. :D But that doesn't clash with the fact ML is supporting this drama a lot through his acting skills.

Just few thoughts, maybe you won’t see them as plot holes, or maybe I just wasn’t paying enough attention, will be glad for corrections. There were also good things about the story, I think the plot holes were only a minor problem, they didn’t disturbed the story that much, almost every drama has them. :-)

1) Kokdu was obliged to kill one person every day, yet he killed like two people and stopped without any explanation

2) Kokdus powers failed few times

3) Not just he stopped the killing, he even couldn’t deal with KPS yet and delayed dealing with Jung Shik too much, in spite of them endangering the FL multiple times (given his characters definition, he would have just snap their necks the first time they tried the assassination)

4) FL saved from ocean recognizes Kokdu and then just suffers weird memory loss, jumping back to normal, not even wondering

5) Kokdu became „slave“ to FL at one point, due to her mothers wish, but the whole slavery plot suddenly disappeared (I know the FL realized he has to listen and stopped commanding, but nobody can evade an accidental tongue slip, especially when that was her natural way of talking)

6) FL was severely harmed by Kokdu at the beginning, he basically ruined the career she worked so hard for, she was chased out the medical community, yet she just waved that out like nothing happened
