I made it about 15 minutes and knew this show isn't for me. Everything was fine, but this feels like the same story I've seen 100s of times in other Thai BLs.
The innocent, kind, child like uke who the target audience of young mostly female viewers will identify with/relate to and of course multiple guys fall in love with him. The mostly silent, cool, powerful seme who is probably also filthy rich and even though he has almost no personality, many people want to date him, but he likes the uke because the script requires it. Friends and acquaintances whose lives completely revolve around the main characters. A meet-cute that involves someone falling/spilling something. It's all fine, everyone is good looking and the line delivery is not bad. I just don't have an interest in watching the same college story again when there are plenty of other series with more unique scripts airing now.
But I hope everyone who liked the first episode continues to enjoy the series.
According to WeTv, บอกกรงๆ...ว่ารักเธอ translates to "Tell me in a hushed tone...that…
Yeah, it's pretty obvious now that WeTv used google translate, which is a shame and makes me worry about who they have working on their translation team. But that's a different conversation.
"I suppose the machine tries to account for possible typos" made me want to dig a bit more. So I went back to google translate and tried to figure out what part of the sentence google decided meant "hushed tone".
When it removed "ๆ" from the sentence, this was what บอกกรง...ว่ารักเธอ translated to "Tell the cage that you love it". I think the machine can't figure out ๆ which we know doesn't have an English equivalent so it just went with "hushed tone" for some reason. It's odd, but I'll just go with the real title which is closer to Tell the cage that I love you.
Thanks for this, most people on here don't talk about the Thai language much 😁

I used google translate and got the same result from WeTv. But when I checked Thai2English, I got what you got. For me, that's one of the hardest things about learning Thai as a foreigner. Not knowing the nuances of the words/phrases makes it hard to understand what the words/conversations actually mean. And since many Thai words/grammar don't have an English equivalent, sometimes the translation is inaccurate.
This series gave me nothing from start to finish. I didn't like the characters or the story, but I watched it. It's really short so if you're bored and enjoy coercive boss stories, it may be worth a watch.
I really loved the first 2 episodes. I always enjoy series with characters with animal characteristics and even though it's low budget and has inexperienced actors, I thought it was fun and sweet. Junior and Sun already have my heart and finding Porsch and Arm are in this series made me even more excited for the rest of the series. I hope they're Sun's dads!!!!!
The pacing of this series is truly wild. They spent so much time in previous episodes focused on rich people being horrible and shoehorning Rose into every other scene that they had to pack multiple episodes worth of story into episode 10.
Tio Ting and Grandma are really the only ones keeping me going. Of course next week we get the 11th episode break up even though the couple only spent 1 episode in a relationship 🙃. It would be so nice if Jack would come down off his high horse FOR ONCE and realize he's not blameless. Everyone else is accepting responsibility for their actions, why can't he?
And not only can you be called a "hater" for pointing out the flaws, you can even be called an "idiot" for continuing…
Oh. I try to avoid name calling, so I can't agree with that. Even if people here who I disagree with have limited cognitive abilities, I don't think making fun of that is appropriate or kind.
I've been a huge fan of Ohm since 2016. No one can convince me that this show/performance is on par with what he did in Make it Right or He's Coming to Me. It's such a shame to watch a great actor doing his best with a TERRIBLE script. The whole cast deserves so much better.
It was kind of astonishing to watch what should have been the most climatic moment of the series happen in a quick news segment with zero fallout 🫢. But seeing people teleporting during the "action" scene was equally head scratching. How do these writers/director/editor keep getting jobs!?!?!?!?
I'm so glad this series aired when the debate/discussion regarding BL/LGBTQ series is ongoing. This show is the latest example of why not every show with LGBTQ characters should be labeled as BL or GL. Life for all people including LGBTQ people isn't just about romantic love and this series was about so much more than that. Every time a show/movie tells a story that focuses on the lives/experiences of LGBTQ people, I think it brings us one step closer to moving past labeling all Asian LGBTQ media BL or GL.
Since this is set in the 90s, a time where pronouns weren't used in the same way we use them now, I can't say how the three lead characters identified, but I cared so much about all 3 of them. Taro always frustrated me. Makoto was the most relatable (given the time and situation). And Futoshi always made me proud. And I loved watching their journeys.
The show touched on so many issues that existed then and now. The end reminded me of the old slogan, "It gets better". Because high school isn't the end and life goes on for all the LGBTQ kids who don't get their happily ever after at 18. I know a series like this doesn't work for everyone, but for me it was very special and nostalgic in a painful but also uplifting way.
I really wanted to watch this when it originally aired and I'm glad I finally did. The first part of the series was wonderful. Singto is so beautiful and I loved the cast. Pod, On and Pad were my favorite characters, every scene with them was hilarious and engaging. Unfortunately for me, they weren't the main characters.
I liked Pin a lot, but I think the writing in the second half of the series gave her (and everyone else) little to do. After the villains were no longer in the series, the show did nothing for a few episodes until it reached the obvious conclusion we all knew would come since the first episode. Overall, the show was fine, but I started to dislike Jen the longer the lie went on. He was also a bad friend to Pod. But I think the show was a fun twist on a very predictable story.
And not only can you be called a "hater" for pointing out the flaws, you can even be called an "idiot" for continuing…
I don't know what unineuronals means, but I agree with some of what you said. I remember the era of BL when there weren't many shows and BL fans would watch anything and discuss it without name calling because we were a community and grateful to have any series with gay leads.
In the last few years things have changed drastically. There is an endless supply of series and many newer viewers believe that MDL is a fan page and only praise should be allowed in comments. I'm sure there are many reasons for this but in my opinion many people lack the skills and vocabulary to debate ideas. Many also don't understand/accept that art is subjective or that everyone is entitled to their opinion. It really is exhausting always trying to tailor a comment so as not to offend loud and agressive bullies who may lash out at you just because you dared to write something they disagree with. But that's BL MDL in 2024.
I intended to stick with this one, but the beginning of episode 11 was too much. I can excuse the low quality production, poor acting and extremely basic writing. But the actions of the dad remind me too much of the Chinese BLs from 2014-2016, where the parents are complete villains with no redeemable qualities. I've never to China, but this trope feels too messed up for me to accept.
If the show was giving me anything worth sticking around for, I might just skip the scenes with the dad, but the show is doing too much and too little (2 minute episodes) and none of it feels worth my time.
Tell me aabout it.thai bls have more quantity THAN QUALITY.Jussstt because you .look pretty no need for skills…
Right. I rarely watch Thai series that aren't BLs. I have seen a couple rhat are entertaining, but good looking people who can't act and extremely lazy scripts are the standard in many cases from what I've seen recently in Thai BLs/non-BLs. Which is unfortunate IMO.
Panjan was supposed to be Khen's reincarnation that will later on be Mas' lover which is how it ended in the novel
Oh wow thank you! I was so confused. I thought Mas's story was set decades before Khen was born based on the clothes and mannerisms of the characters. But I guess not. I also don't recall anyone calling Khen Panjan, but maybe that happened one of the times dosed off. Either way, thanks for the explanation.
I hope one day we can look back at these little series as the beginnings of the end of the ban. They're harmless, simple and hopefully can lead to an era where we regularly get full length Chinese BLs again. Even if they are distributed in other countries.
Until then, watch this if you have low expectations and want to fill an hour of your time. Or just watch Blue Canvas of Youthful Days which is actually really great!
