With so many below average BLs out there, it's rare to see something with such potential and wonderful characters. The early episodes had that with interesting kids and a unique plot. The middle episodes had bad hair, bad music sadness, pain and suffering just for the sake of sadness, pain and suffering. In the end, they wrapped everything up in a nice bow. And actually, let some characters besides Gun and Golf like men. It's an odd choice to wait until the last episode of a BL to allow the boys to show any interest in other boys. But this show went out of its way to give the audience exactly what they didn't want each week, so I'm not surprised that the ending was rushed and felt forced and too convenient.
Overall, I think this series is memorable. Mostly because I can't unsee those wigs and the music that was played in nearly every second of the series feels like it's stuck in my head forever. But the series is also one of the biggest missed opportunities I've seen in a long time. This could have been watchable, good or even great. But for most of its runtime it was torture and I'm glad it's over. I am hoping to see more from Title in the future. Name stole my heart from the very beginning and I'd love to see Title in a better series.
P.S. There have been some awesome coming of age BL themed series and I know it's possible to tell a solid story without much romance. Remember Me is a coming of age story, but the writer/director failed to make something worth watching from start to finish.
For me, it seems that the HIStory franchise was ruined with the ending of HIStory 3. 4 was awful in so many ways and this one is boring. Episode 1 was watchable, but early in episode 2 (which is really 3 and 4) I was distracted and kept pausing to do other things. That never happens when I watch something good. Maybe it will be better binge watching in a few months, but for now I'm putting it on hold.
EarthMix completely have my heart. I'm sad that after waiting over a year that felt like an eternity, we only get to spend 4 weeks with this series and characters. Either way, I'll be here and excited for all 8 episodes!!!! 🥰🍗
This is giving exactly what I've been missing from KBLs recently. Episodes that are longer than 15 minutes, likeable lead characters, a relationship that realistically develops over time, no side characters getting too much screen time and skinship where the actors don't seem completely grossed out to be touching each other. I hope it stays this good!
Even in the final scene the kiss lacked everything. There was enough space between the actors to put both Krist…
I barely remember the series besides the constsnt bickering of the MLs, but I do remember they lacked romantic chemistry for the most part. This could have been so much better 😔
I'm not sure what happened with the subtitles for this episode. But worse than no subs was that kiss. Geez that was not it! I'm not criticizing either actor, but it felt rushed/forced for both characters (I'm guessing that was the point). But that ending, WOW!!! Why, huh? I still love the show and Pond and Phuwin are doing are doing a great job, but that episode was a bit of a miss for me.
I love it when a series spends time showing the audience why the main characters start to like each other and eventually fall in love. So many BLs these days just have the leads fall in love randomly and near the end, it's still unclear why the people even want to spend any time together. This show is doing a great job of developing the relationship between Onoe and Kaburagi.
They wanted to build 2 opposing worlds.- Mum's world - Utopia: everything is beautiful and happy, everyone around…
A show that causes viewers to drop it out of irritation and frustration, isn't something I'd label as "quite successful". I also haven't seen anyone in the BL fandom talking about it, let alone considering it a success. Even the MDL viewership numbers are low compared to other Thai BLs (not scientific, but a data point). But if you enjoy it good for you. I don't have to!
I've only stuck with this show this long because I keep telling myself that it's better than Oh My Sunshine Night. But after seeing another episode focused too much on Mint and Aun, I'm close to dropping it. I really don't understand what the writers were thinking. Should we hate Mint or feel bad for her or both? No matter what the answer is, since I'm here to watch a BL not a series about an obsessed girl, I DON'T CARE. Each episode has more Mint and all the crappy people around Dew than it does with Mum. I thought Mum was the main character, but now he feels like a side character and my patience is running out.
If this series focused on Mum and Dew's relationship developing over the course of some nights, them trying to understand what's happening with the parallel universes and why Mum keeps crossing over, it could be really fun to watch. But what we're getting is a few minutes of that per episode and a bunch of an evil sister/friend and forced "girlfriend" (I'm not calling her Dew's girlfriend because Aun and Mint pretty much forced him to date her). NO ONE watches BL to spend sooooo much time with that type of character!
I really like Mum and all of his friends. But I think time is quickly running out on the chances of this getting better.
I'm loving everything about this series, but I need Ben to fall back and find someone else to like. Also, I REALLY hope the mom doesn't turn out to be evil. Her strength and ability to take care of things is awesome!
If 2022 has taught me anything about Thai BL it's that someone is getting great tax write-offs by churning out these series. These companies clearly aren't trying to entertain audiences or help their actors' careers, so I'm not going to bother dragging this special episode. I wish the actors the best in whatever they do next.
May I know where you get the "they are not comfortable with kissing"? I see a lot of people saying that and I'm…
You make a good point. I've never seen an interview or social media post from either actor saying that they don't feel comfortable kissing. It could be that their management companies or the company that made the series did not want much skinship. IMO the romantic chemistry was lacking, but that could also be blamed on the director.
Since Machida Keita has done 18+ content in straight productions, I'm guessing that's part of how people concluded that he didn't feel comfortable this time because it's a gay relationship and the rest of us just went along with that assertion. But you're right we don't know.
Thanks for pointing that out. I also edited my previous post.
