I said it on episode 16 & now after watching 30 episodes, i can say it without a doubt that Yuan emperor is…
Obsession is fine in the beginning but a main character need to be develop by time. That's a good writing. He can be a crazy lover, it's fine but what would be wrong if he had become a bit mature. His character would've grow up on the audience as well. Which could make this drama lot more better and interesting than it's current state. After watching a guy 30 hours straight and he's still the same whiny kid, who just want his favorite toy, makes him look so bad and he's the main character of the story. Don't have problem with others atm and that's the only reason i'm still watching it.

I said it on episode 16 & now after watching 30 episodes, i can say it without a doubt that Yuan emperor is one of the worst one dimensional character i have seen in a long time. All he know is "Nyang". If she's there he can move eat or do something & even then it's not productive. Someone killed his unborn child & all he asked about "nyang". 5 other escorts lives are on the line but all he asked "nyang". Not even care for them as human being or someone who supposed to protect his people. Not to mention he become literally dumb when he heard the false news about her death. As long as Nyang is alive, its fine, all world can die. And all these things make this love triangle one of the worst, because he doesn't stand a tiny chance against Wang Yuu, who have a very deep character and actually have lot of things to worry about. But too bad, his screentime is not even one third compare to him.

That little whiny kid is just ruining this series for me. 16 episodes and no character development at all. He really need his mom. Feeling sorry for Nyang and Koryo king. 4 more to go. I wonder how will i finish 50. 24 was more than enough to get a conclusion.

I have seen the worst english lines on "History of a Salary-man" around episode 9/10 and i stopped watching because it was impossible to understand.

Now about the main topic of subbing. I don't understand korean except for few words like Sarange and ____ ____ Aigo i forgot. My problem start with anime subbing because due to the time i spent on anime. Most of the time it get really easier to understand without reading subtitles, especially if its normal conversation. So when i see bad groups like commie or gg (for their localization/trolling) and other amateurs who can't even translate simple lines, it really get on my nerve. I'm really picky when it comes to anime subs and don't care about korean drama groups (due to lack of knowledge) as long as english is understandable.

Even though i knew there are some awful subtitles for korean drama but the screenshots you posted are just lol.

So when is the sequel coming? It deserves one to see Hanzawa fight with a 1000 times payback against that Geezer.

Anyone know how much material 10 episodes covered from 2 novels?
fatima_july Dec 20, 2013
The only one i seen in this list is Mok Dan and i agree. Other prime example i can think of is the main lead of "You're beautiful". She was so boring and pretend to be cute every single time and everyone fall for her for no reason. And "Im Me Ahri", a supporting character in "A gentleman's dignity". She just hit the narm whenever she cries. A total comedy. Though not her fault i guess but bad writing/directing.

No doubt, majority fangirls here are pedo or that 24# image apply. Ratings are screaming and that's what kpop is all about. Not to mention same rules apply to guys as well. So pedo-ajusshi or something. Someone once asked me a question about music and i said that jpop is for music and kpop is for looks (well. most of the time of-course. that's my opinion and i still believe it)

Once upon a time i read that semi-rape is a situation similar to tsundere characters. Where girl is saying no no and then okay good. a bit disagreement (tsun tsun) and then happy (dere dere).

I'm not sure why many peoples are thinking it was an open/viewer imagination ending. They gave enough reason to…
Some peoples are just thinking too much. It was not that deep. Director Kim was not that powerful villain. He got bunch of useless thugs & was totally relying on Moo Chul. He wanted Oh Soo dead for almost no reason, yet he wasn't able to done it easily. Many of his guys got beaten by Jin Sung alone in previous episode.

Also in the end, he lost all his money. So that makes him even more weaker. Jin Sung could have easily turn the table when he threw that knife in front of him. Of-course he cared for his life more than anything, remember when Moo Chul trapped him in the car.

Also you might want to check Hee Sun character again & how much she cared for Oh So. She did anything she can & even asked money for him. It so easy to guess how will she react if she hear Jin Sung killed him.

& you missed something in my post. Which have answers for survival & recovery part. There was a time skip.

I'm not sure why many peoples are thinking it was an open/viewer imagination ending. They gave enough reason to believe for them to being alive. There was time skip. Dream ending doesn't need it & "Spring Next Year" heading.

Young got her sight back, was doing social activities & supported blindfolded ex-fiance for a moment. Not required for dream ending.

Jin Sung was not sad at all. We know how much he cared. There is no way he would be normal & tell Hee Sun to which flower we should get after KILLING him with his own hand. lol. So that call was for other Oh Soo.

There is no way Hee Sun would've been together with him (+ happy) if had really killed Oh Soo. No matter whatever the reason was.

Oh Soo was alive & gave his reason for not visiting. Again proving time skip. Not required for dream ending. I think that last whole scenario was just over dramatic happy ending. Not open ending.

I'm not sure whether i should be happy or disappointed with last scene. I wanted a happy ending all along and i was like "No... what you did Jin Sung. why" and then he came back like nothing happened. So that last dramatic scene felt totally out of place with time skip. And no detail what happened after that. Did Jin Sung suddenly felt to save him. Then why he did that in the first place. He should've put that knife on president Kim neck and reversed the whole situation. There was only one guard, too easy for Jin Sung to handle.

Nonetheless overall very good drama. Just a bit over dramatic sometimes.

I'm actually thinking to write one but yes that will take time and effort as i would want to clear all my points, cliches and all wrong things which somehow considered as truly well written around here.

"a few people think "Gaksital" is just a hyped up drama which doesn't really deserve the #1 spot.…
I partially agree on difference of opinion thing as i'm actually a bit lost there in my first comment. i wrote this whole reply so fast and posted it and when i re-read it, i was not allowed to fix mistakes.

I can actually go on and explain myself again better this time but considering my whole one post didn't went as i wanted because of these character/editing restrictions. i lost all my interest, neither i expect a good discussion here. So well good luck. No offense to anyone but i just hope drama community learn one day how to criticize stories rather than appreciating how their favorite celebrities did an awesome job.

I wanted to see some real tactics. NO. I was not expecting something great like LoGH but still a little bit from number one rated drama. I want to write a complete review about all things which went wrong, but i don't want to waste more time than i already did. I don't trust ratings much but still they proved helpful sometimes but i lost my faith completely in asian drama community and not just because of this but King2Hearts, Minami Sineyo and some other series as well.

(dang. this character limitation. it becomes 3 posts in reverse order and no bbcode support)
Grumpy Witch Sep 21, 2012
I started it with some good hopes and first 6 episodes were really great when i thought, yes. this drama really deserve high rating and it's getting better and better but how could i be THAT wrong, I'm surprised. I can't describe how many plot-holes this drama have, how many weak situations, resolves and poor execution were there that it becomes one of the most predictable story i have ever seen. I already knew how it will end and writer never proved me wrong. The only thing that actually surprised me about ending was Shunji's suicide. Many times Gaksital hit the Narm (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Narm) and i double face palmed. This story had some really great potential where you have revenge, hidden identity, war, leadership, uprising and get back your country but in the end i left really disappointed...
