In ep 31 of novel, before her wedding to Fenglong, Xiao Yao made the ice crystal for XL as a last poison. It had a mermaid sitting on a shell, one hand over her heart, and one hand reaching out to a merman floating outside the shell looking coldly at her.
In epilogue of novel, XL carved a fat baby buddha sculpture, and put the ice crystal sealed inside to give XY as a (secret) wedding gift. He added another merman to hold the mermaid's hand, while the cold merman (himself) is looking at them, as if from another world. Next to this merman, the inscription: The ability to take care of yourself, someone to rely on, a place to go – wishing you a lifetime of worry free happiness!
