I would've liked that story, tbh. I'd like to see a successful love story that breaks free of the class system. XJL could've chosen her, learned from her, she breaks free from her meddling mom, and they grow together and the families grow with them.

Where you're at, its impossible to know what our ML is really like. He's very complex and cannot be described when you've only seen 1 and a lil bit of his "forms" ( Xingyun the mortal, Xingzhi the Ancient God that cannot have emotions/is restrained by the world & is lonely&depressed, Xingzhi who yearns to be his true self that can learn to love & have emotions). Each of these are part of the true person, it literally takes the whole drama to reveal him. This is called the Legend of Shen Li, but it really is the story of how because of Shen Li that unveils and frees our ML, and the whole driving force is to show you a love story between these two.
My favorite part is when they were chilling with LGX sitting inside the cabinet, the lights go off and "ghosts" come out, and ZLY squeezes inside behind him , because girl, saaame, and I'm glad she did it. I wouldve not want to have died outside alone if I were in her shoes. Natural fan service.

XZ cutting the flowers on the tree is part of setting a formation to protect Lady Jin and SL while they are healing, some of FS's bad guys got deflected 3. When Shen Li dies and says "Xing Zhi, it hurts" there is a breeze in the Extranatural realm and XZs teacup splits. It's mentioned in later episodes the prayers and wishes of people can reach him if they pray and she especially said his name and thought of him, so the whole realm reacted. 4. Shen Li's treasure trove of weapons, XZ plays with all of them. A lot of people wouldve given up on the boxes within the boxes, but he patiently opens them all, and neatly. The whole sequence is frustrating (like his slow ambles and way of speech), it only emphasizes XZ is a really really bored, lonely, and patient man. 5. After getting hurt by lightning for his Divine Punishment, XZ never wears white/light colored clothes again. Because his wound never heals, hes always bleeding, and dark clothes cover that up from SL. 6. Shen Li's makeup: overlined lips, smudged eye makeup. It is similar to her coloring and style of her real form, the phoenix/chicken gegeda.
