At first, I dropped the drama, but decided to give it a try after it came to Netflix. I'm glad I gave this drama a second chance. I am won over by Akiko just like Miyuki!
I have caught up with the last episode. I enjoyed Enken's acting and Issey's appearance. Ano has put in lots of effort into her acting and it shows. However, I find that even with the show's focus on Japan's social issues (this show was broadcast during Japan's election), the story is weaker than its prequel, Tamiou. As replacements for Issey's and Suda's characters, Ohashi Kazuya and Ano have big shoes to fill.
I am caught up to ep 2. All I can say is, it is watchable as long as you just want to kill time.
Since the director is different, the tone is completely different from Tamiou. In terms of the cast, even though the different body swaps in each episode made me curious on how they would execute it, I prefer seeing Suda Masaki, Takahashi Issei and Kang Ji Young from the previous season.
This is just 6.5 hours of pure delight. Endo Kenichi and Suda Masaki remain two of my favorite actors, and the…
I have watched the spinoffs with Chinese subs on BiliBili (now probably gone due to good ol' copyright strikes) and Kaibara does not swap in any of them.
The holes are just a story device of some sort.... It makes me think the story can be done without the holes.
the symbolism of the 7 holes is solely in the opening sequence. I don't see how the story of Chinese gods drilling 7 holes into Hundun us related to a show where people recount their life stories and that's it.
Are you talking about the source material or this adaptation? because Black Jack is a genius doctor who never got a license. He charges people a lot for his services.

Other than that (and possibility BiliBili), it was not released outside of Japan officially.
I watch it with Chinese subs.

They have good chemistry on screen though.
