When Hawick Lau grabs a girl, he really grabs her! Very little consideration for personal space which is rare in Chinese shows. I don't know why I put off finishing this for so long.

A charming retelling. Yes, not quite as impactful as the first but aren't copies always like that? I really enjoyed watching the veteran actors who play Kaopun's father and the shaman. Just like in the original, where the "evil ghost" came from wasn't really explained but they all worked well with it as a plot device.

I just rewatched the final episode again and it just reinforced my opinion that it was practically perfect. Okay, the weirdo 2018 "can't recognize faces" theme took some points off for me but it fit perfectly into the drama's conceptions about who, what and when makes us each our own selves. The slower pace was like pouring a glass of beer so that the head forms perfectly. Faster - not so tasty. Slower - not so pretty. Sigh - I loved it.

“I just love pain” same HAHAH! But I hope for a happy ending at the end
For a sweet (and very silly) Chinese drama, check out Chef Fang (Hua Jian Ti Hu Fang Da Chu) - its subbed YouTube and on Daily Motion, I. think. Lots of amazing food porn as well.

Okay but what part do you like best? The young actors? Then you should try Bua's Khun Mae Suam Roy (2018). She…
U-Prince The Series: The Handsome Cowboy is the beginning episode with the most famous actors (Push and Esther) but the lead is an enormous jerk. My favorite one is The Crazy Artist or The Lovely Geologist. Those leads are sweet!

Can you guys make some recommendations about similar lakorns? I don't know why, but I really enjoy this lakorn…
Okay but what part do you like best? The young actors? Then you should try Bua's Khun Mae Suam Roy (2018). She is excellent there! The "revenge that only hurts yourself" plot? Then try Tawan Tor Saeng with Dome. Big families with lots of secrets? Try Ching Nang with Aom. There are four brothers in that story so there is a lot of romance! College life and friends? Try any of the U-Prince series. The good thing I think you can find most of these subbed on YouTube or even DailyMotion.

Okay, I'm watching this without subs right now (hoping for them, of course!) but - is the little girl Partit's daughter (she calls him dad) or his niece? They never talk about her mother . . .

I've been on the hunt for similar lakorns with complicated, broken characters so if you have any recommendations…
Oh, I watched the beautiful revenge of Fai Ruk Game Rorn a long time ago- a Rainruma recommendation! - but the second seemed too cray-cray. Not even for Mek . . .

What a great article - I also enjoy historical (really olden times) and period (merely not modern times) lakorns. Ching Nang (2012) is another "period" drama with four brothers and one heroine. Yes, everyone loves Wong Deuan with the exception of their crazy grandmother. Expect to see a lot of simple country life, travel on steam trains, home cooking, country doctoring and banditry. Sapai Jao (2015) is the opposite kind of charming period lakorn. Lots of princes, training for royal marriages, vintage cars, nightclub acts and servants vs. masters.

Looking for an early movie to complete a viewing challenge. Luckily, the Korean Film Archive has many films to choose from on their YouTube channel. An eye opening look at 1950s Seoul. Also, the acting is quite good!
