I'm watching this (unsubbed, unfortunately) on YouTube - it's very good. Not quite faithful to the novel as I remember it but very good. I especially like the actors playing the teenaged Luo Chi and his brother. They both have very distinct, youthful personalities that show aspects that will blossom into their adult characters. And the dubbing (I'm assuming it is) is quite well done. Sometimes, Chinese dramas dub children's voices as though they were stupid, not just young.
As for the female lead, I like that she's not super beautiful - she's just supposed to be a normal person. She hasn't seemed too silly - maybe a little naive about how violent the past is, though. There's a similar story vein in the sci-fi novel, The Doomsday Book by Connie Willis, about a historian traveling back to the Middle Ages in England during the plague.
I'm hoping this show will get subbed for the foreign market - I notice a lot of TenCent productions ending up on Dramafever, Viki, etc.
I didn't care for the "I'll force her to love me for her own good plot line" especially as he obviously had some girls on the side. Just hire her a bodyguard next time. Only here for Great.
Okay, I need someone to give me the plot twist. I got up to episode 7 and the plot began being pretty draggy on the revenge front (plus her"dad" and "aunt" began smiling very oddly every time they called her) - so I need that plot twist now.!
And one last thought from episode 26: The actor playing Wemann was given nothing much emotional to do all the way through except be a jerk to women. This last episode, however, he is acting his way to the Thai equivalent of an Emmy. You can really feel his sadness, anger and madness over loosing Raveet and the respect of his family. I wish they'd given him something to do earlier on!
As for subs - someone on a FB discussion group I'm in said she went to Subscene.com and downloaded the Farisi/Persian subtitles, opened them in Notepad on her laptop and used Google Translate to run it through to English. A heck of a lot of work but she knows what happens in Episode 8 and on! I was just rewatching and considering if I should waste my holiday break on this . . .
It already aired Oct-Nov 2015 ...Just no Eng subs I watched a bit raw ... It does not compare to original of 2001…
You know, I just went back and rewatched this on YouTube . It really doesn’t compare. I understand that they might have wanted to update this to be less right-out kidnapping but it’s just ridiculous. Although the lead does look more threatening than Andrew G.
