I know nothing of the manhua or maybe even novel? BUT from what I've seen of the donghua, I can only surmise Jet Li either plays Dao Ma's sifu (but then Jet Li's scenes will have to be flashbacks from long ago becoz he'd be really old in the movie's timeline) or perhaps an evil overlord. What do you guys think?
Yuen Woo-ping directed it, and Jet Li is in it, so I'll watch it without hesitation. Otherwise, most live-action…
I don't know why ppl look up to Jet Li as some kind of national hero.
1. He's know to badly hurt / physically damage the stand-ins in his movies just to show off how powerful his kicks and punches are. Jackie Chan on the other hand would never actually hurt these kinds of ppl. His moves appear powerful becoz of camera trickery not becoz he actually "assaulted" them like Jet Li. Stand-ins probably pray to God all the time they were cast in a Jackie Chan movie instead.
2. He cheated on his first wife.
3. He gave the middle finger to China long ago by first moving to live in America and now Singapore all becoz one earthquake scared the sh1t out of him while he was on vacation there. Hello, infrastructure improve after ppl come to experience a natural disaster so they can survive the next one. How can Chinese still support this like of hanjian who don't even like their motherland?
I know who's watching the newly released trailer with trepidation: Jackie Chan. The man is too full of himself,…
BTW, any of u think it's a coincidence China just recently released a free to play game on mobile and other platforms called Where Winds Meet where the protagonist is seen fighting the bad guys while carrying a baby boy?
That's Wu Jing carrying a boy called Xiao Qi in Blades of the Guardians. These game companies sure know how to ride contemporary mainstream entertainment hype!
I know who's watching the newly released trailer with trepidation: Jackie Chan. The man is too full of himself, thinks he's the King of Asian cinema when he's not even worth a pinky finger on Wu Jing's hand. I never cared for any of Jackie Chan movies, but I can say except for Mulan by Disney I have watched all of Jet Li's movies.
On the other hand, I don't like Jet Li either. But it seems Jet is the lesser evil of the two Li/Chan. Pretty sure box office of Blades will blow away Jackie Chan's attempt at face saving this Lunar New Year... Guy even made an attempt to join the Chinese Communist Party just to one-up Wu Jing's smash hit patriotic movies. How pathetic and attention-seeking can you get?
(Btw, there is no need to post any Weibo stuff at least not here on MDL, which is an international English based website where most users don't even have access to Weibo:
I'm sure you have seen Chinese who go to post all in Chinese on an English speaking forum thinking he made himself look so smart, when most viewers cringe at that kind of paragraph blocks they cannot read)
I think there will be lots of problems with production of S2/S3 becoz of the recent China-Japan row (RE: interfering with Taiwan issue and now Japan even talks about acquiring nukes).
A Japanese woman is one of three leading protagonists in the second season.
I doubt the current Chinese audiences have that kind of appetite given the current geopolitical situation.
I think it,s a given that from now on (and ever since S2), each season will have its trademark scene where either Su Wuming or Lu Lingfeng uses name swapping (to assume a false identity).
Is it just me or I find myself falling asleep half way thru each episode. It's never happened to me before during S1/S2. Either S3 is less engaging than before, or maybe I'm watching S3 too late into the night...
I honestly don't know which is better S2 or S3. BUT...
Random weird dream sequence: S2 only had a female ghost spirit visit her husband in a fabric/tailor shop to pull pieces of yellow paper out of his body. S3 had a guy climb into a water pot then suddenly it begins to fly into the sky Harry Potter style with a woman sitting on top of it.
The third and fourth murderer/kidnapper. S2 only went up to the 2nd or 3rd layer, but the S3 went even further (three or four people one after another kidnapped the same woman).
The One... more like The ZERO. Come to think of it, I never enjoyed Leo Wu's works very much. Fights Break Sphere was shiet, complete departure from the original storyline (XunEr is a scumbag that wanted to destroy Xiao Yan not like the lovable XunEr of the dongua). Love like the Galaxy, I got tired of the melodrama 3/4th into the series. I did plan on dropping that but said to myself, I already invested my time into 3/4th of the series, might as well finish the last 1/4th.
Now, I don't even look at The ZERO. Li Wanda == suck!
(BTW, whoever knew a simple one-liner "hmph, pian ren!" could make a (C-grade) kid actor so rich and coveted by the c-ent industry when he grew up...)
The ROAD to HELL is LITTERED with GOOD INTENTIONS!
I just wanna say Tang Lici got what he deserved, a just ending in the end. If Tang Lici had just let Fang Zhou die instead of attempting to suck out all the evil energies out of Fang Zhou into his own self-healing body, he wouldn't have created an evil Liu Yang and NONE of what happened afterwards would have happened. Hell, with the other 2 "brothers" still around, A Shui would have found her way to meet Tang Lici at her brother's residence, and he would have married her with the other 2 "brothers" as witness to their marriage.
Tang Lici tried to save Fang Zhou out of his GOOD INTENTIONS, but actually OPENED a ROAD to HELL that caused all subsequent killings in the drama from EP1 onwards fall unto unsuspecting ppl like a dominoes effect!
(Anyways, enough of my ramblings, drama started out OK but I got tired of seeing characters like PuZhu play an imbecilic goody goody two shoes. I ultimately rank this drama the worst out of all I have watched this year...)
I've been procrastinating finishing the last 7 eps for months now which means I love this drama lol
Actually I only watched this drama d/t the popularity of the donghua. I actually hate them for casting Yang Yang. If it were another work I would have easily turned down the drama based on the casting of the ML alone. Yang Yang is too "pretty" for this role. Donghua Han Li was more crude and "ugly" looking (just an average looking person that got acquainted to a bunch of beauties on his journey) not this refined pretty boy like Yang Yang.
Complicated my rear end. This drama borders on the BL genre which is blacklisted in China. I always hated this…
Neither does yours. If you got nothing constructive to say, don't. At least I made some criticisms of the drama. BUT you, what has your reply added to the discussion? None! Zilch!
BTW, welcome to my permanent ignore list buddy (I actually blocked loser posters like these instead of put them on mental ignore).
BL dramas are retarded. I went into WoF not knowing jack about it. I never gonna watch another China drama which such strong male bonds. (Everyone's only doing BL to rope in the gullible female viewers to drive the drama's popularity to make some money. They know even though women mostly watch romance dramas, pure bisexual romance dramas won't ever be as popular to the ladies as the BLs. As a male viewer, I find the BL drama rather disgusting). Liu Yan looks retarded playing that string instrument meant mostly for women.

Jet Li’s Blades Of The Guardians Suffers Heavy Losses Over Major Controversy Involving Lead Actress
(Obviously, they still gonna release it in CNY 2026, but still makes for interesting news)

I do feel that Lin Yun is one of the prettiest actresses in C-ent. Is it a coincidence?

Also, Douban lists this drama official title as "Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty IV".
"Four" is more a superstition in Cantonese/HK Chinese (and even Japanese) than Mainland Chinese!
Proof: Douban calls it "Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty IV"
https://movie.douban.com/subject/36700715/
But the MDL name is inconsistent with the previous seasons and will likely not show up in a search for "strange tales of tang".
(Why resort to the smart arse naming? Douban still calls it "Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty IV")

Mr. PuZhu = a goody goody two shoes
Tang Lici = an even BIGGER goody goody two shoes
PuZhu's good intention towards his lover caused the deaths and suffering of countless ppl,
BUT Tang Lici's good intentions towards Fang Zhou had ultimately caused hundred times more casualties!
I just wanna say Tang Lici got what he deserved, a just ending in the end.
