Im on EP 11 of the donghua. I like Shrouding the Heavens (Zhe Tian) better though. Anyone watch this donghua series besides me? Tencent hired the same Original Force studio to animate their series. Plus the MC in Shrouding the Heavens actually looks closer to Yang Yang than Han Li in BiliBili's donghua series.
BTW, can you imagine how hard it is for Original Force studio? They have to juggle between animating 1 episode of Fanren for BiliBili and another episode of Zhe Tian for Tencent each week!

That explains why I was able to source S1 EP01-76 of the donghua circa 2020 in 4K (2160p) from a Chinese website. The usual thing is that for some other less popular IP, the show usually disappears from the sharing community after one week, much less 5 years after it was first aired!

I held off watching the drama. I have all 30 eps in full glorious 4K/60fps on my HDD. I just don't want to spoil it for myself as I prefer to watch the donghua first to familiarize myself with the story. I find dramas like Douluo Continent /Land of Warriors watch better if you've already seen the anime.
Well, I just started the donghua anime series. I'm on Ep6. It seems pretty meh to me. I don't even know why the anime became so popular! I am excited as ever to watch this live action drama afterward though...
(BTW, ppl are sharing/refreshing the anime due to the drama having aired recently. You can grab ep1-76 of the anime in 4K before the hype fades away and ppl stop sharing them. Meaning the best time to catch up on any old anime series is soon after they aired the drama)
This is the FIRST modern movie I watched in 1080p at 2X speed. The norm for me is 4K at normal speed and at 60fps if I can source it. Shows how much respect I had for the sequel (and I even watched the first part in 4K/60fps!)

Relax mate. It's Wu Jing. This movie is already guaranteed +500 million USD at the China Box Office before we even get a trailer! Wu Jing is such a BIG box office puller unlike Xiao Zhan... Which means the movie has to actually be good to make full use of casting Wu Jing (or rather I don't think Wu Jing would have signed up if he thought the script or screenplay sucked)!
TBH I would have skipped this film if not for Wu Jing. I'm not a Jet Li fan. I don't care for his movies. And Woo Ping, I already seen his best work in The Matrix.
IMO Wu Jing is better than Jackie Chan and way better than Jet Li. He encompasses both Jackie's aloof nature and the ability to get serious and kick some REAL arse like Jet.
Poor Jet Li though, this might be his first (and last) movie that makes a HUGE splash at the box office solely relying on Wu Jing's star power. And also poor Jackie, this movie alone might dethrone him as the highest Kung Fu/Wuxia grossing movie shown in China.

I guess you don't watch a lot of Chinese fantasy dramas. There are usually three types of beings: 1. Mortal, 2. Immortal, 3. God. An Immortal dies because they're only slightly better than mortal and haven't yet obtained God-hood!
Personally, I wouldn't want to repeat the Joy of Life experience. When the S2 was released, I had almost forgotten what happened in the S1. I didn't know/remember the cyborg had killed the FL's brother. That was how bad it got!
I think I'll just hoard the "S1" of Immortal Ascension on my HDD (as a 4K/60fps version), then go all out and binge watch when all the seasons have concluded. JoL 1/2/3 proved it was no fun to watch the sequel many years later!
Season 2 (episode 43+) of the donghua was just released.
Seems to be a low quality rush job to ride the momentum of the live action drama.
They used the same OP/ED songs (too cheap to hire singers to compose new songs) and the CGI models don't look quite as nice as the S1. End credit also leaves much to be desired -- it's just a single hand-painted scene with photoshop cape flapping, whereas the S1 ED was a complete 3D CGI sequence!
Will there be a S2? I highly doubt they can "do it all" in 30 eps. I hate to start watching this drama and get to ep 30, then find out there is no closure until the S2...

It follows the donghua down to a tee. Tangsan just stepped foot onto Sea God Island. You should be able to follow the rest of the story by watching the donghua. Sea God Island arc begins after episode 100, I forgot which one, but they did travel in a submarine before getting to the island like in the live action drama...
Alas, movie seems to be suffering the same Jin Yong-litis fate as the Xiao Zhan LoCH movie... low douban score! Too bad (or too good for us viewers) it's too late for investors to back out as the subsequent parts have already been filmed!
I have the LoCH movie in 4K on my hard drive. I'm never gonna watch it. I'm not a LoCH guy. On the other hand I eagerly await part 2 of RoCH. I'm glad Hark Tsui abandoned his version of RoCH movie half way to make room for LoCH. I'm not a Hark Tsui fan, and it wouldn't have been as enjoyable as this RoCH movie we got instead!
(PS: The LoCH movie is really 4.7 instead of 5.2. The tally is based on many fake AI generated rosy reviews by crazed fan-boiz that give it a perfect 10/10, so in the end it's real score around the same as RoCH).
The actress that plays Li Mo Chou is famous for her nice smile. There are only two actresses with nice smiles in C-ent, her and Zhao Lusi. Whenever they cast this actress, her role always brings a pleasant atmosphere to the work!
